I'm calling about my ein on my W2 right . The IRS works keep getting business ein and the one on the W2 confused. You work for the IRS common sense is for IRS workers to ask which are you calling for, business or the one on your w2. Been on hold for 2 days. No help!
IRS has the worst customer service. Constantly fails in every way possible.
Was put one hold for 30 minutes. The rep couldn’t answer my call transfered to someone else. Put on hold for smother 30 minutes and they disconnected me. Back on hold now for 25 minutes.
So unfair. So rigged They are thieves!!!! Gonna be 12 weeks to get my money back. Cant talk to a human, allllll the money they steal they cant even talk to us? Im looking to leave thos country. So corrupt.
If I could give anything zero stars I would. The IRS is a sham. It is a joke. Not even a true government agency. Taxation is THEFT. TAXES ARE ILLEGAL. The IRS needs to be abolished.
My dealings with the IRS, as a foreign national seeking an EIN, were brief but incredibly positive. The gentleman at the other end of the phone, a certain Bill Witt, (hope I spelt that correctly) was an absolute delight to work with: polite, friendly, efficient, and succinctly informative. I can't actually envisage a more satisfyingly replete level of customer service. Kudos to Bill and kudos to the IRS for having the sense to make sure they kept hold of a seriously solid human asset.
I started my refund and it said I owed 5900 dollars had an accounted do my return and turns out THEY WERE WRONG. im positive by 3 times the amount. Frauds you guys are.
The automated message says 30-60 minutes. I waited over 2 hours to have no one answer because it's no longer during business hours. If it was them needing money from me I'm sure they would've answered in 10 seconds, but me needing help from them, they couldn't care less.
If I could rate the IRS with zero stars, I certainly would! The current state of the IRS is utterly dreadful! I engaged a tax firm to submit a 1040-X Amended Tax Return back in February of 2025, yet I received no communication from them whatsoever. Consequently, a Tax Advocate advised me to track my progress using the 'Where is my Adjusted Income Tax Return' tool. In February, it was marked as received, in November it was adjusted, and by December it was completed. Now, in February of 2026, two weeks from a whole year having not received any correspondence from them, I finally managed to reach an IRS representative. It turned out that someone there had omitted a portion of my address, and I was instructed to resubmit my 2024 Tax Return. I expressed my frustration to her regarding this level of incompetence. I swear that the IRS under the Donald Trump administration resembles a disorganized group of plunderers.
They take your money from you - knowing they have to pay it back to you, causing them to do absolutely nothing in the process but take every ounce of your time and energy. Why are we even allowing this to go on?
I called the number on the IRS website that said was for assistance with filling out a tax form. The automated response wouldn't accept my reason for calling and listed limited responses that would be accepted--none of which corresponded to my reason for calling, which was to get assistance with filling out a 1040 form. When I asked for a representative, the automated response said that it first needed the request for information to be answered, but still wouldn't accept the information that I gave it and would just repeat the request. I kept asking for a representative, and eventually the automated response said that I needed to get the information it requested and then hung up on me.
What I don't understand is you paying money into this country your own money. How do you owe back taxes on your own money and the money that they are taking out of your check? That's what I don't understand is how do people owe back taxes on your own money?
I went to the Phoenix Arizona IRS on central and Indian School and Ms king was awesome. She was very patient, gave me clarity and her bedside manner with me and the other customers were excellent. Give her a raise
How do you call the IRS and you can't get any information because they say there's computer system is down to me that sounds like fraud they're getting paid to do nothing other than tell you their system is down the IRS system is down can you believe that yet they go after other people doing fraud but yet they are doing the same thing every time you call them no answer no help in with the amount of money that they take from everybody that's fraud
Sat on hold for ONE AND A HALF HOURS, simply waiting to update information that the oh so helpful website was not allowing me to do….as I write this I have been on hold for 1hr and 27 minutes…HORRIBLE customer service.
I am behind on filing my taxes, I don't dispute that. In 2017 I raided my 401k, paid nearly $100,000 in taxes on the money I withdrew to buy a house in Tucson, AZ. Things didn't work out, so I sold the house at a loss in 2019. The sale price was less than what I paid, plus the buyer's inspector said I had termites and needed a new tile roof, removal of Tesla solar panels and reinstalling them. So, losing about $8,000 on the sale, and fixing the house was another $16,000.IRS doesn't want to look at 2017 when I paid $100,000 in taxes. They want to start with 2018, claiming the equity I got out of my house for the sale IS CAPITAL GAINS!So, with interest and late fees stacking up, they claim I owe $223,000 the last time I got a letter.I tried calling in 2024. Was told there is a 90 minute wait. I waited my 90 minutes, spoke to a man who said he needed to transfer my call...and CUT ME OFF!It amazes me that with labor shortages, Joe e...ffing Biden was able to pull 89,000 qualified IRS agents off the streets for hire. I don't think they are any more qualified to be IRS agents than he was to be President.
This website is awful. It’s constantly down, I can’t do simple tasks and instead have to call and wait over an hour to talk to representative. The chat never works either, just bumps you out after a few mins. They need to do better
Had to change my EIN from sole to LLC, they don’t let you do it online. On hold for 2.5 hours and they just hang up! If this is the type of service they provide just let us do it online then and have to deal with this crap. Get it together guys why are we still doing this like 40 years ago??
I called the number on my letter that says "If you have any questions, you can call ***". Waited on hold for one hour and five minutes. The letter states that they included the form I sent them, so to see the changes made, but they forgot to include the form. This should have been a simple call. Instead I receive a person (male, but not a man for sure). He immediately tells me that I called the wrong number or hit the wrong prompt. Cute, but I didn't hit a prompt. I asked a question to the bot, and she sent me to this incompetent line. He only kept talking over me to tell me I should've called the number on the back in the middle, but he NEVER shut up long enough for me to finish telling him that the back of the page is blank! He accused me of talking over him, which I had to do at times, especially to correct the things he was claiming. All I needed was them to send the form, or transfer me to someone, since it had already been an hour 15 since I placed the call. This guy REALLY wanted to be important in this life, but will never get there like he is. What do you expect though dealing with the irs employees, really just flunkees who have no real skills.
