Easy! This was not complicated at all. Would recommend.
I bought travel delay insurance and had to use it due to my flight being cancelled due to lack of sufficient crew. I submitted my claim and they responded with an offer that omitted part of my claim. Rather than fight, I accepted the offer. When emailed for my opinion by Generali (you know the ones they NEVER read) I mentioned the omitted item. They contacted me and granted the whole claim. Very satisfied.

I purchased “Trip Protection” through Hotwire for my Abu Dhabi trip (Feb 22–Mar 1, 2026). When our Etihad flight home (AUH → NYC) was cancelled due to the regional conflict and airport/airspace disruption, we were stranded and needed help with extra hotel nights and meals.I contacted Generali (the insurer) to file a claim and was told this situation falls under “war” exclusions — meaning they won’t cover anything. In other words: the one moment you’d reasonably expect trip protection to help, it doesn’t.If “war/hostilities” wipes out coverage for the exact kind of major disruption that strands travelers, then this product is not meaningful protection — it’s a fee you pay up front for a denial later. The exclusions may exist in the fine print, but in practice this coverage is extremely easy for them to reject.I strongly recommend avoiding this “Trip Protection” and instead using a credit card with trip delay/interruption coverage or a policy that clearly covers large-scale travel disruptions.(Policy #26027X09GZ / itinerary #73358964137827)
Edited after Genrali Response to correct their alibi, misstatements and claim. I am not canceling the trip, I am trying to cancel THIS insurance because it is inadequate AND I see now they are impossible to work with. Horrible customer service. This insurance is sold via Airbnb when you book. You pay Airbnb and there is no customizing. Airbnb showed the insurance on the receipt with a live cancel button. The button and the receipt do not show a "looksie" period before canceling. I am sure buried in some fine print NOT on airbnb website WHEN YOU PURCHASE there is limiting language but it is not consumer friendly. The actual policy is also not provided when paying. This non-customized insurance only covers the airbnb portion of the trip and I am gone for another week and needed more insurance. The 2 corp giants played pass the buck. If you call Generali, they send you to airbnb and vice versa. Neither company would "handle" the issue. Airbnb told me to cancel and rebook the visit to cancel; Generali email said even if I cancel, I have to pay for travel insurance on a trip I am not taking. Note, this is 3 months before my trip. Note, this is not canceling the trip, so there is no threat of a claim to them despite their bot claiming I was cancelling the trip. So, no risk to them of having to pay a claim. No benefit to me. Worse, they ping pong with Airbnb saying you have to cancel from them and Airbnb says the company says we cannot cancel. Generalii contact was just awful. Every email got the same auto response - they do not read emails. AND if a simple $40 cancellation is impossible after 25 minutes of calling, imagine an actual claim!!!! This company is awful and greedy. I believe they are acting outside of proper laws on disclosure and forcing you to pay for something you cannot use. I will be sending this to the State's Atty General Consumer Fraud division if I do not get a result in 4 days and well, if there are more of you, do the same.

I paid for travel insurance through Airbnb for a cabin trip to Tennessee. It happened to be the weekend that a massive winter ice storm came through the area. We had to leave the cabin early because the conditions would have been undrivable. I filed a claim with Generali for “trip interruption” and all I got back was that they wouldn’t be covering the cost of anything. I tried emailing them back and got no response. What is the point of buying insurance if they won’t even cover the cost when something out of your control goes wrong? Very disappointed with this company and definitely will be telling everyone I know to avoid them in the future. I won’t ever use them again.

I wish I could rate the travel insurance itself, but I was so appalled by the customer service that I felt compelled to warn others. My attempt to resolve a simple query turned into a 50-minute ordeal.After waiting 30 minutes to speak with someone, I finally reached a representative who was immediately dismissive and annoyed. She misgendered me from the start, and when I politely pointed out her error, she hung up on me. I tried calling back but spent another 20 minutes trapped in an automated phone loop that eventually disconnected me.For a company that is supposed to provide peace of mind while traveling, their customer support is anything but reassuring. It's a system designed to frustrate. Based on this experience alone, I cannot recommend purchasing travel insurance from them. If something goes wrong on your trip, do not expect this company's support to be helpful. They are hostile and impossible to reach. Avoid.

USER WARNING! Find a different company to use!! My son got hurt on a trip to Dominican Republic. It’s been over a year and we STILL have NOT received reimbursement! He’s submitted receipts MANY times, they show submitted and then a few weeks later they are gone and they keep saying they didn’t get them. Thank God he still keeps them saved on his phone! He’s filled out everything MANY TIMES and still NOTHING! Happened in Jan 2025 but won’t let me leave review using that date since it’s over a year. But we are still battling with this crappy company. If I could give a NEGATIVE TEN score I would!! I would never ever recommend them or use them again! TERRIBLE company, terrible customer service!
I have tried several times to use their website, called multiple times and gotten nothing back from them. This service appears to be a complete scam and because Airbnb uses them I fault Airbnb and will NEVER schedule another

We purchased travel insurance and had to cancel due to a member of our group being unable to attend. I filed a claim and since no one was fit their criteria, they denied the claim.Seems I would have had to lose an arm to have my claim approved.Never again.
