I really love this aviation training website! I'm doing the 2026 Private Pilot Ground School and Jon Kotwicki makes complex subjects easy to understand and comprehensible. Quizzes are a little challenging, but not too hard. Additionally, Fly8ma's customer service is excellent!
Fly8MA stands out from the rest for a few reasons:1. Price: For a nominal fee, the value I gained far outweighed the cost. There are also a bunch of free courses to try out before you commit.2. Support and Assistance: Jon went above and beyond to help with my entire pilot progression from PPL to CFI. 3. Quality Content: The way Jon breaks down concepts helped me better understand the core concepts. Instead of just parrot learning for the exams like some other mock exam platforms promote, I found I have a better understanding thanks to his videos.4. The Pilot Lodge: After a couple years of working with Jon online through the online courses, I finally made a trip out to the lodge in Alaska. Highly recommend!!!10/10 👌

The class material is top-notch — clear, well-structured, and very informative. The website is easy to navigate, making it simple to find and access the courses. The IRF course is very indepth, and I passed the actual exam in the 1st try. Jon will take the time to review concepts with you if needed.Definitely recommend using Fly8MA.
Jon and his team were super helpful getting me started with ground school and all the way through my training. The online course is laid out very clearly with lots of videos. When I had questions I got a prompt response and scored a 97% on my FAA written test. Thank you FLY8MA Team!
I do believe the course presented holds valuable information for most people, but I do not believe their is great care taken for newbies. There is a lot of jargon that is used, which stunts the learning process. There are also several modules that are not recorded well, so it is hard to understand the instruction that is being taught when recorded via an aircraft.The quizzes had issues of their own, as they do not show you what wrong answers was given, not allowing room to learn from said quizzes.I do believe this course is suited for some and there is no doubt that it is a comprehensive course, but make sure you try to watch some of Jon and Fly8ma’s content on YouTube before purchasing. This is to make sure their style of teaching matches your style of learning.I did not feel like the course was suited for me so i decided to reach out to request a refund.I spoke with Jon regarding my situation with the course and he informed me that he could not process a refund because I had the course for about 5 weeks at the point of talking to him. I could understand his position, but I explain to him that I preemptively bought the course assuming it would be great based on the reviews I’ve seen. I did not have time to delve deeper into the course until around the time I requested the refund as I did not find it user friendly for myself.I truly wish there was a trial that I could have tested to make sure the course would work for me, but nonetheless, there wasn’t.
I'm working toward getting my PPL. After watching all of the free Private Pilot Ground School videos @ FLY8MA.com, I decided to sign up for the Silver Subscription and take the Boot Camp to prepare for the written exam. After completing the Boot Camp, I scheduled my exam for the next availability. And as of about an hour ago today, I just passed the exam with an 87! The info that Jon shares at FLY8MA is spot on; I would definitely recommend!
All the pass your ppl check ride videos are great! The stumper questions section were huge in passing my oral. Super detailed videos and definitely come highly recommended.
I liked and appreciated the CFI material and training videos and documentation. It did help me confirm that what I was doing was sufficiently preparing me for my CFI check ride. The feedback I got from the DPE was that I needed to get more into the regulations. questions such as you receive a student who is a helicopter pilot out of the army and he wants to do his fixed wing conversion....what does he need from you? I feel like I could have done better in that regard. I did buy slides from backseat pilot for this ride which the DPE liked. I did not see such material on your site.I think that the CFI check ride material could be improved. There is no one out there that is ...imho... guiding students in a confident and complete direction for the CFI check ride. It is a confusing rating to navigate and a more clear guided path could be provided. I also used Gleam to prepare for this check ride which was a confusing experience. I did well on the FOI portion but not so well on the FIA portion even though I was scoring in the 90s before each test. I signed up late for your course and I could not get to the study questions. All in all I like your material, your videos, and would love to come fly with you and stay at the lodge one day.
Excellent level and quality of content. Obviously nothing beats live flight training but this is the next best thing. I am currently studying aerospace engineering and I am learning a lot from FLY8MAs tutorials and best of all, it's free! Highly recommended.

Flight training is going slow, because, when I am working I don't have the time and when I'm not working I don't have the money... Unless I can find an affordable place to stay while I'm off work I'm going have to wait until I can make enough money for flight training and afford the cost of living at the same time... I'm not a rich man but I do have a good job with good pay and benefits so I can save enough money eventually to do it.. I just hope I can do it before I get to old as I'm 64 now...BTW, thanks for putting your online class for free, even though I have not gotten very far in my quest of flying your site has helped me to get educated, so thank you very much...

This is the best online ground school out there. Teaches beyond rote memory and helps students understand the content and develop critical thinking skills that are necessary in aviation. Could not recommend more!
This was the best thing I could have done. The lessons were nice and concise to the point. Having a top down explanation allow for better comprehension. Well worth the subscription with my busy life. Thank you
The private pilot ground school and boot camp were excellent and I highly recommend utilizing FLY8MA for your aviation training needs.
Great program, easy to work through and would recommend to anyone interested in PPL. I supplement with the Sporty’s App just to have practice questions available on my phone and that’s an inexpensive add-on I would recommend was well. Took test this AM and scored a %100.
This course is exactly what I needed to get prepared for the test. The course gave me the instruction and guidance I needed to be proficient and confident for the written exam.
