I found Crypto Tax Girl in the midst of trying to figure out how to account for my crypto holdings around a gnarly exchange bankruptcy. Tax filing dates were approaching and I was getting increasingly stressed as I just couldn't figure out what to do by watching YouTube videos. That's when I saw Laura interviewed by a YouTuber I trust and recognized CTG could be my salvation. Previously, I've done the crypto portion of my taxes myself and believed I did a decent job. Turns out not to have been as perfect as I'd thought but, thanks to CTG, I'm now keeping next level records and know much better what to watch for and how to solve certain problems I wasn't even aware were a thing. All that was bonus to my original reason for seeking their help. I worked with Joe Howe and the man not only has an impressive working knowledge of the subject but can communicate it succinctly and effectively with exceptional care and patience! Worth the money to get it right
My experience was amazing from start to finish. Between an app reset and the exchange bankruptcies, I had completely lost track of my gains/losses and the reports coinleger gave me were quite off and did not account for my losses. Stephen was great to work with and very understanding of the situation. Their work paid for itself because I would have overpaid taxes and had totally inaccurate records. Highly recommend.

After months of searching for a firm that was knowledgeable & up to date with the ever-changing landscape of Crypto tax code, I was super relieved to have found Laura + her team through a Crypto youtube channel. My experience with CTG was light years different from the other CPA's I had worked with - Her team is organized, professional, super communicative and truly know their stuff. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Joe Howe. Worth more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS
If you want a team you can TRUST to do your Crypto accounting THOROUGHLY and CORRECTLY...do not pass go. Stop right at CryptoTaxGirl. We'd been with a firm that was touted as the superstar firm in this space. Numero-uno {allegedly}. After a couple of years being with them, the bills kept getting bigger and more frequent, we got passed around to different people in the firm, and then came the calculations that meant a wicked-huge tax bill. And something just didn't feel right about it.Fast forward-----I found Laura while researching "The Ponzi Election" for crypto taxes. It didn't take long for me to see how sharp and informed Laura was and I just really wanted someone like her to review that crazy bill that had been making us uneasy. If you're a "cut to the chase" person I'll just say that CTG blew that other firm out of the water by being thorough, caring and quick! And yes, they found an error--well, more than that.With a re-audit of our file, serious attention to detail, insisting on full csv files, and doing human-checking of data, it showed that our suspicions about the previous accounting were right....and nearly ONE MILLION DOLLARS OFF!!!!! Yep. You read that right. I will sing the praises of CTG to anyone who will listen. It took a team who *wanted* to be sure I had all the right information and data--and not skip over getting it done and billing me every time I took a breath. If you're cut and dry in your decision making, that's all I have for you. If you like more detail, I've got 5 more reasons to work with Joe and Laura. I should say that Joe is who I worked with on my file. As I understand it, Laura digs into the more nuances of the tax law side. When it comes to numbers, Joe is THE MAN!!! Joe said in the beginning (humbly), "This is my thing." And Laura said, "This is where Joe really shines." She was so right! If you're still reading, let's count it out....1. Communication is STELLAR. If you get annoyed at the unnecessary volleying of emails that drag on over days or weeks, and you want someone who will just pick up the phone and hamer things out in a quick call or two--then you want CTG. Joe would call me while he was a the office, or walking his dog if I needed to push through and get some quick info. He explained things thoroughly and clearly and whenever I had more of a "legal/tax law" question, we'd get Laura on the line to be sure I understood whatever I was asking about.2. They are FAST!!! Joe worked with me to collect and input all my documents in unbelievable time! In short--Joe completed a review and a re-entry of everything I've done since 2017 in the SAME amount of hours that our previous firm took to complete ONE YEAR'S numbers. 3. They know what they're doing! To be transparent--I did not realize it during the process but all the questions and requests for more documents and taking the time to get on the phone and help to jar memories about specific transactions was more work on Joe's end, but ultimately, he was piecing the info together for the best and most accurate outcome! How confident am I? We are amending the old returns (even with the risk of an audit) because I am so sure it was done right this time.4. They saved us money. Well, yes, we did technically pay to get the numbers done TWICE, which is more money, BUT in the long run, we're much better off. I'm not kidding when I tell you that we wasted time, money, sleep, and multiple headaches in dealing with (and trying to leave) our previous firm. At the end of the process, the fact that we had a different outcome, with a much lower accounting (a lower tax bill), pays for them in spades! (Advice: Do it right the first time!)5. They really like what they do. Why is that important? When people are more focused on starting the clock and sending you a bill for everything you say or ask--and artfully leave you hanging so (if you have a brain) you have to reach out and ask for clarification, they're not focused on serving you as a client. You can HEAR in the way Joe and Laura talk--they enjoy what they are doing, knowing as much as they can about their craft, and making sure they are helping you with all that knowledge and experience.I know this was long. But this is a BIG DECISION that you DO NOT want to get wrong. For me, I got my sleep back. That 800-pound gorilla is off my back. I feel good knowing that he numbers have now--been done right.I can't tell you what they'll accomplish for you, but I can tell you that I'm never going anywhere else for my crypto book keeping and taxes, and I will continue to sing the praises of the CryptoTaxGirl team. If you want to get back to focusing on your crypto, and let someone else handle keeping you in compliance and your taxes are done right, then you need my people at CryptoTaxGirl.
