Lifetime Warranty… Until You Actually Need It

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Cove Home Security.I pay for the lifetime equipment warranty, yet when one of my keyfobs stopped working, getting support was far more difficult than it should have been. I replaced the battery myself and confirmed that was not the issue. When I contacted customer support, I was asked to send photos of the back of the keyfob. I explained that the QR code and identifying numbers had worn off over time. Instead of working toward a solution, I felt like I was being questioned and not believed.After going back and forth, no replacement keyfob was sent. For a company that advertises a lifetime equipment warranty, this was frustrating and disappointing. The entire interaction felt like a waste of time.If you are considering Cove, understand that having a warranty does not necessarily mean you will receive timely or reasonable support when something actually fails.

Not as easy as marketed

COVE installers are a 3rd party company. There is no communications and very poor coordination. They really have nothing to do with each other and they like it that way. This is VERY confusing and disturbing for the consumer. Batteries are a problem with the Cove equipment. The Hub did not recognize some of the censors. When I raised complaints with Cove, they mysteriously started working again after threatening to ship back the entire system. My cameras were not hooked up and the installer did not return to do it. Cove did say they would help me get them working I'm ready. The entire purchase and set up leaves me a bit disturbed. They don't seem to have the entire process buttoned up.

System alarms with flying bugs, no fix

System alarms incessantly with flying bugs. Your office can’t save sensitivity adjustments. Have spent hours with support. Wasting more than an entire day. The only thing possible was to disable all outdoor cameras. You are to call in 48 hours and maybe you’ll have a fix. Right now unless something magically improves you will be taking the system back

THIS IS AN UPDATE

UPDATEI submitted a two-star review on December 4, 2025. It has been two and a half months since then, and my Cove system remains unreliable and failure-prone: sensors lose "supervision", the system drops offline (both wifi and cellular), the mobile phone app quits working, the camera stops working, and, most recently, the system generated a false burglary alarm.I still give the company two stars rather than one because Cove personnel have consistently tried to resolve problems cheerfully and enthusiastically. However, their efforts, ongoing for months, have not been successful. My original Cove system worked well for years. This string of problems began after I was persuaded to upgrade from my original equipment to the new Cove Connect alarm panel, hub, and app, and I believe the Cove Connect upgrade is the cause. A little online research quickly confirmed that quite a few other Cove customers have reported the same before-and-after experience.

I’ve been with Cove for a while now

I’ve been with Cove for a while now, and overall I’m very happy with the service. The biggest thing that stands out to me is the value. I’ve had other security companies in the past that required long-term contracts and charged 2–3 thousand dollars for equipment packages that honestly weren’t much different from what Cove offers. With Cove, you can get similar equipment for just a few hundred dollars, which makes a huge difference.The pricing is transparent and affordable, and I really appreciate not being locked into a long contract. That flexibility alone sets them apart from many traditional alarm companies.The equipment itself is reliable and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The alarm system works well, the panel is easy to use, and the app is simple and straightforward. Monitoring gives me peace of mind, and I haven’t had any major issues with performance.Customer service has also been responsive when I’ve reached out. They take the time to explain things clearly and work toward solutions, which I value as a long-term customer.If I had to point out one downside, it would be the camera setup. Some other companies may offer more advanced or fully integrated camera systems. However, that wasn’t a dealbreaker for me because you can always purchase your own cameras and still use Cove strictly for the security system and burglar alarm. For the price difference, it’s honestly worth it.Overall, Cove offers strong value for the money. You’re getting reliable equipment and professional monitoring without paying thousands upfront or being stuck in a contract. If you’re looking for an affordable, no-pressure home security option, Cove is definitely worth considering.
