We were a loyal user of the catmate fountain for years, and I mean YEARS. Unfortunately Closer Pets have decided that individual wrapping of their 'genuine' replacement filters is no longer necessary for environmental purposes. I was confused when they started to appear recently in an unsealed box and each filter was unsealed also. I queried this with them as the new way of packaging means which ever supplier is stocking them and where they are stored means they can be tampered with, opened, or if left in unsanitary conditions the filters are not protected.I'm sorry but my cats health is as important as mine, we use a brita water filter, if they arrived unsealed I wouldn't use them for hygiene purposes. Same goes for my cat.Please think about reversing this decision. I will continue to spread the word about this as my cat loved the fountain, but I refuse to use the filters if they are no longer sealed.

I highly recommend this feeder to everyone. Against the company’s instruction, I use this feeder for my outside cats. They were microchipped when spayed/neutered. By using this feeder, I’ve been able to ensure only they are feeding, rather than every feral cat or wild animal in the neighborhood, and eliminating future kittens for me to socialize and find homes for. I use more C batteries than if this feeder was used inside, but it is worth it. Occasionally, the cold weather causes the feeder to “freak out” and constantly open and close. I’ve found the solution to be to bring the unit inside and let it warm up, and then return it outside.

I really like the closer pet microchip feeders, I bought 3 for my 3 cats because 1 cat has to eat special food and 1 eats slower while the other is a faster eater. I love them and the bowls that go with it.i like the shallower bowl for wet food and the more deeper ones for the dry.

Still have not received my replacement…
Still have not received my replacement door! It was to be delivered on 11/6.Update....replacement door arrived this afternoon 11/10. I called the company this morning, very helpful and friendly. A glitch in shipping but arrived. Will order again from them.Thank you L. Berthold

These microchip cat doors last 6 months before they quit working. When the first one died, I had it replaced under warranty... 6 months later the replacement also died. I can't recommend this brand and wish I bought a different one.

Great feeder for scaredy cats!
I initially tried the SureFeed microchip-reading feeder for my cat, but he was absolutely terrified of it. The design was a bit too intimidating for him, and the motorized lid only added to his anxiety. After switching to the Closer Pets feeder, however, it was a completely different experience. The design is much more intuitive and, most importantly, quieter. The gentler mechanics made the training process so much easier, and my cat was able to adjust quickly. If you're looking for a stress-free feeding experience for both you and your cat, I highly recommend the Closer Pets feeder!

Replacement parts
Replacements parts for the auto feeder arrived on time and fit perfectly. These parts were needed as rats/squirrels chewed up the bottom of the hopper, dispensing spout and lid. Maybe in the future can you make these parts out of something stronger that they can’t chew through?

The two-compartment feeding unit is…
The two-compartment feeding unit is simple and effective. The trays are removable for washing, and the freezer pack keeps wet food fresh. With a 48 hour timer (running from a single AA battery, which of course can be removed if only using the unit occasionally), we were able to have food for our cat timed to be available over our short weekend trip.
