I am from Chester but really don't like…

I am from Chester, and it’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening to this once-beautiful city. Pot holes seem to appear everywhere—sometimes marked with white squares, sometimes partially “repaired,” only for the next few metres to be left in a shocking state. The double yellow lines have faded so badly that at night you almost need a torch to see them, and poor street lighting doesn’t help.Parking has become a minefield, too. Ambiguous signs leave you guessing, and even tools like Google or AI can’t always clarify the rules. Meanwhile, the council seems unconcerned, making what used to be a straightforward drive or a simple parking spot a stressful challenge.Chester used to be a city where you could park without worry, drive without swerving, and clearly see the road markings. I often wonder what visitors or tourists make of it now—it’s a shame that the charm of our city is being overshadowed by neglect and confusion.

Burst a tyre on a potholed road.

Burst a tyre on a potholed road.Zurich, the insurance protection racket company used by CWAC did everything in their power to deter the claim and then ruled insufficient evidence: photo of pothole, photo of burst tyre, receipt for damage, MOT, insurance, V5 doc insufficient, it seems.Charge an absolute fortune for Council Tax and deliver less and less each year. So, where is the government's money going to maintain the roads? In their greedy, avaricious pockets, I suspect.Bunch of fraudsters.

No stars please

Would prefer to leave no stars but this option is not available ,I've waited since 2023 December, for what I consider a straight forward application ,.I was forced to go to appeal to the govenment body the inspectorate ,this council did not even put forward a case for which they had objected to my application ,they have wasted everybody's time and money to pursue a vendetta against myself ,of course its not their actual money that's being squandered on this vendetta ,it's yours the council tax payer ,,at no stage did they attempt to enter into dialogue with me ,,,the planning system used to work sweetly 20 yrs ago ,you could liase with a duty planning officer ,and talk through a proposal ,they now mostly work from home ,and we all know what that means ?.duvets at the ready ,,this council stinks of corruption ,if your face fits your application goes to the top of the list, otherwise you wait forever,I've examples of council owned properties validated the following day and permission granted in a few weeks ,this council has 44 officers on their books ,no excuse for the delays ,I'm currently seeking an award for costs for unreasonable behaviour , quote the government planning inspector ,I implore you to complain and write a review about this underperforning planning authority , and this awful labour government says it wants to build more houses and will make the planning easier what a joke , just like this council , I suggest making these planner attend the office 5 days a week 8 hrs a day ,and get some work done , no dog walks or watching daytime TV. Paid for by the taxpayer ps I've waited over 2 yrs for a planning decision, had to go to appeal , council did not even contest appeal ,inspector noted they had acted in an reasonable manner ,I'm currently applying for cost award ,these arrogant officials don't pay , its council taxpayers money ,I have an example of a planning application on a property owned by the council which they awarded to themselves in 8 weeks 18/03444/ful,,if your application action takes over 8 weeks cite this example for an explanation ,good luck trying to speak to a planner ,As they all apparently work from home ,usethe word work loosely

It takes an hour to answer a phone call…

It takes an hour to answer a phone call every time I rang there. Perhaps employing another person would reduce the queue? People have to work not only hanging on the phone.

Horrible, uncaring, ignorant council

I wish I could give negative stars. There is nothing about CWAC that I could compliment. They are only concerned with money and getting praise. Redeveloped to have a load of rubbish new builds trying to compete with Liverpool One whilst historic buildings fall to pieces. Force out decent indie businesses with their ridiculous rents, horrible business relations and through-way closures so the buildings just stand empty. Also completely ignore legitimate complaints about a dangerous anti-LGBT councillor who is breaching code of conduct and is now charged with assault, but the council couldn't care less. They'll happily take pats on the back for being so great and inclusive with the annual Pride day (just make sure you don't have any actual political banners, this isn't a protest!) but they don't care at all about any of their LGBT citizens, or any of their citizens at all.You report fly tipping or slur graffiti and they never do anything about it. I've ended up cleaning stuff up in town myself because they don't bother. This is just a few examples of how they continue to fail as a council. Absolutely useless.

How many times must I email the council…

How many times must I email the council to have electoral registration forms POSTED to me! I cannot change a pdf doc to a word doc & I am not paying to have the service that allows me to do so, for one thing only. Neither do I have a printer & I should not have to get to the library, wait for a computer then pay to print two sets of forms, one for my partner & one for me, the fact that it's a small sum is irrelevant. Then pay to post it & hope it goes to the correct place. Or do they not understand what to do with a hardcopy?!

Stupid council

How redicolous are the bin men that they will not take any cardboard boxes that's left next to the side of the recycling bin. Council you charge enough for council tax but you can't do this. What a joke

Great crew

This is concerning our NORTHWICH, /Rudheath recycling crew. Every 2 weeks, these lads work their butts off....banter is great.....smashing bunch of men, they really have to put up with some disgusting mess.....still, we get a cheerful service. We may not be happy with high council tax (I'm not)....but this crew goes above and beyond. Think they should be thanked by the council.

No stars would be more appropriate

No stars would be more appropriate! Chester is now a deteriorating dump and was looked after better by the Romans!Historical parts of the city are being allowed to fall to bits ,areas of interest are cordoned off as unsafe due to lack of maintainence, the bins are always overflowing, the pavents are badly cracked and uneven, everywhere smells of pish because of the lack of accessible toilets and there is always beggars in the shop doorways. The city is also more car friendly than it is to pedestrians, there is a huge amount of traffic. If ever a city needed a congestion charge, this is it!I've lived here for nearly 30 years and to see this city decline is very depressing.I would not recommend it as a tourist destination, it doesn't deserve a visit the state its in.

They just don’t care

This Council, like many others, does not give a fig about the public. It doesn’t matter how many bad reviews they get, they still draw their generous salaries and allowances. The only way they might take notice would be if everyone stopped paying their council tax. But, of course they know this won’t happen.

Dangerously misguided senior officers

CWAC is a dangerously malevolent public organisation that does not recognise boundaries, does not understand its obligations and overreaches, treading on taxpayers' rights.

They have done it again!!

They have done it again!!! twice in past 4-6 weeks they have walked past my brown food recycling container. This happens regularly because I am the only house on my side of the road next to a school and they drive by jump out, pick the brown containers up opposite me but jump back in without collecting mine. Do they need eyesight tests? will Cheshire West send them for eye tests?

Unfortunately I have to give a star

Unfortunately I have to give a star! My wife is severely disabled and on this particular day she was really struggling and ended up in hospital. We parked in a disabled bay but this particular bay was for disabled people with an electric car that needs to be plugged in. We walked into Chester and then very quickly needed to get back to the car as she wasn’t well to find a penalty ticket on the windscreen. When attempting to appeal there is a drop down menu specifically for disabled people that have made exactly the same mistake with no option to appeal due to that particular mistake. Very deceiving for vulnerable people that are already struggling physically, mentally and financially.Very disappointing Cheshire Council.

Incompetence, inept and not fulfilling their legal duties

Terrible authority.Only been in the authority area for 12 months and so far had to:1. Complete a stage 1 and 2 complaint for special needs failure. The stage 2 partially upheld our complaint and the council offered compensation but we've decided to refer them to the LGO Ombudsman as we feel the full complaint is valid.And,2. Start another stage 1 as three street lights don't work outside our home which is in a woodland area. They sent out engineers who closed our ticket immediately saying the lights work but they haven't for about 8 months. Outside our property is total darkness at night resulting in two break ends and meaning I have inadequate lighting to my car at night, a bigger problem given I am disabled and have low mobility. It's a terrible authority, absolutely terrible.

Either a lack of consideration or competence

The A556 was closed today at the junction with the A49. All eastbound traffic was diverted north up the A49 only to hit a roadworks and contraflow after 400 yards. Later the closure moved half a mile west to the crossroads by the Lounge restaurant. Tall high lorries were diverting down a small lane and one became wedged under the branches of a tree. This mayhem has been going on intermittently for a couple of months and small businesses in the area must be suffering. A bit of care and planning could have minimised the chaos.

The Website Is Counter Productive

The website is too closed-minded to even deal with any complaints. I'm reporting fly tipping to the council but the website has a drop box with only a limited amount of options to choose from... So I simply can't report something when it only applies to certain people. I wouldn't be so bothered if it wasnt mandatory to provide one of the given options.
