Comprehensive and Clear-eyed College Admissions Guidence
We were looking for college admissions guidance for our daughter as the first one of our kids to venture into this multilayered process, and really needed a Sherpa skilled in taking us from basecamp pre-planning, with precision pulses of oxygen along the way, so we could breathe freely all the way to the summit. Jason and crew absolutely delivered through the full journey, starting one year in advance to ensure ECs, grades, test scores, and scholarship opportunities were where they needed to be, then expertly outlining the elements vital to coherent and compelling personal essays, and finally a step-by-step walkthrough in submitting the common app. Jason has a nice touch with teenaged students (and he confided in me that this approach has been an iterative undertaking, though it appears so natural to him), building confidence and autonomy for these kids to drive that payoff as they make that leap into college and eventual careers, and brings in parents at all the right moments. At the outset I asked Jason how he defines success, and he was clear-eyed in simply telling us that if the student feels comfortable at a college regardless of the reputation or national “ranking,” with acceptance(s) within their top 3 choices, then mission accomplished. It worked out for us, and we’re excited to tee up or next kid with Jason and company when it’s his turn next year.

We worked with C2C for our child’s college application process during their senior year, after a recommendation from the school’s guidance office. We worked with Jason and Lori and had several face-to-face encounters and multiple sessions via Zoom. Both of us attended college many years ago, and recognizing how much the process has changed, we relied heavily on them for guidance navigating the requirements for documentation, as well as effective ways to present our child to admissions committees. C2C helped us very much with the Common Application, not only with the data required but also what kinds of things that colleges were looking for in personal statements and other narrative information. They also made us aware of various sources of information about the colleges we were considering, while being totally realistic about the significant number of unknowns involving any given admission decision. The further along we got (and we had regular how-is-it-going check-ins with both Jason and Lori), the happier we were that we hadn’t had to do this kind of work by ourselves. Our child wound up applying to 13 schools, including large state universities to several schools with less than 5,000 students. Our child wound up being admitted to 4 (3 of which offered merit scholarships) and wait-listed at 2 more. We recognize that even with electronic help, the whole college admission process is full of pitfalls and opportunities, and we were grateful to have had helping hands for the journey. We couldn’t be more pleased with their work.
