Employee experience
I have been employed by Denise for nearly a year now as part of the Bury Swim School team. Not only does she mentor me continuously through my own teaching but also ensures that all staff have her full support wherever needed which I am beyond grateful for. I have the pleasure of being able to teach many children in both the Haymarket pool and the Bury Grammar pool. Witnessing the progression in ability and confidence of these children has been the greatest of privilege of all, and for me ‘work’ never feels like work. This swim school has such a personal touch to it which makes teaching not only rewarding for us as teachers but for every child no matter who they are, that come into the hands of Bury Swim School.

A fabulous local and independent swim school
A real gem and a rarity these days in a world full of franchises. Local and independent. Class sizes are small, of similar ability and, within that, tailored to each child's needs. Miss Ramsden is a wonderful teacher, as are the rest of the instructors and staff there. Both my children swim with Bury Swim School - my youngest at the Haymarket Pool (where my first child started 4 years ago); my oldest now at the Bury Grammar School pool. It's great that the children are able to transition from the 'little' to 'big' pool as their swimming journey progresses. I have no hesitations recommending this swim school to anyone looking for lessons.

Highly recommend BSS
Both my boys attend lessons at Bury Swim School & are both now so confident in the water & are amazing me with how much they have improved. They both really enjoy their lessons & all the teachers they have had have been brilliant. I would highly recommend Bury Swim School to anyone.

If I could give 6 or 10 stars ⭐️ I would. I brought my younger son to BSS after struggling through lessons at another provider with my older boy. The waiting list was SO worth it. The teacher - Miss Ramsden originally and then later Mr Greaves - get in the pool with the tiny ones, put my baby boy at ease with his slight fear of being under the surface at the outset and exponentially developed his confidence in the water and with his stroke technique. The class sizes are small and well planned so that children are within a similar ability level, whilst the instructor adapts their delivery to tailor the teaching to the individual child with lots of verbal coaching and visual demonstration where appropriate. We have also used some of the other services on offer - such as an individual pool hire during restrictions and I would thoroughly recommend Bury Swim School to any family considering quality swim tuition for their child or children

We went to Bury Swim after my daughter…
We went to Bury Swim after my daughter had a bad experience elsewhere and left terrified and didn't want to go back. The teachers at Bury Swim group have been fantastic, both Megan and Denise. They have been brilliant and very patient with my daughter. The smaller groups suited my daughter better and made her feel more comfortable.

The swim school you've been looking for.
My child has been swimming at bury swim school for around 2 years now. Denise and Jake have given my daughter somewhere safe and fun to learn how to swim, they give clear and easy to follow instructions, all the children in the classes thoroughly enjoy their lesson. My daughter looks forward to her swimming lessons more than anything, and because it's fun she doesn't feel like she's having a major work out. Thank you for creating such a safe and enjoyable space for our children to thrive.

9 years of swimming & still counting!
My daughter has been swimming with Bury Swim School for 9 years, since she was 4 years old and still going. Miss Ramsden has nurtured her from a child unable to jump in or feel comfortable putting her face in the water, to a really competent swimmer and putting her through her paces! Now smashing it in training every week, with Jake. I cannot say enough good things…children taught by Bury Swim School are so so lucky and I’m a grateful parent. Long may they continue

Great swimming school would highly recommend to anyone my 4 year old granddaughter has been going for less than a year and her swimming is unbelievable thank you Bury swimming school for all your help with granddaughters lessons.

Our Daughters Have Been Going For Years - Brilliant
We've been using Bury Swim School for both our daughters since they were toddlers. Miss Ramsden and her team are amazing - so much experience, patience and professionalism. Our girl's abilities and confidence in the water grow week on week - previous lessons we used to pay for (there were several) didn't produce anywhere near the same progress and results.

This is a remarkable swim school
This is a remarkable swim school. Not only are the instructors very skilled they also have a very personable approach. They have gone above and beyond to support the additional needs of my son, so much so they suggested moving him to a session where he would be better suited to help him along his swim journey. This not only helped but he is now flourishing and coming on from strength to strength. Jake, the instructor is brilliant with the kids and has so much patience. He has helped not only my son but the other children with his easy going approach where the kids see him as their friend and instructor. The rest of the supporting staff are fab too, making conversation with the parents and helping make the environment very comfortable. It’s is truly a family based business. I can not thank them enough. Very highly rated with great results to match. Would thoroughly recommend.

All three of my children have had the privilege of learning to swim under the guidance of Denise Ramsden. Bury Swim School is excellent
Bury Swim School is excellent. Ms Ramsden is a superb swim teacher, she is firm but kind and got my son swimming confidently from being very afraid of the water. He has been swimming here for about 2 years now. We tried various swim schools before with my daughter and none compare to Bury Swim School. It really is excellent. highly recommended!

Bury Swim School is the best!
I would highly recommend Bury Swim School, they have been brilliant with both of my children. We had tried other companies before this one and there is no comparison. My little boy was a very reluctant swimmer and screamed every time he went near the water. We initially tried some 1:1 lessons with Miss Ramsden and she was so experienced and patient with him. He quickly moved to group lessons in the little, warm pool and he has now progressed to the big pool and is a confident swimmer. My daughter has had lessons with Jake and Miss Ramsden for several years and we’ve been so pleased with her progress. Most importantly they both love going to their lessons! If you’re looking for high quality swimming lessons with professional, experienced instructors in fantastic facilities then look no further than Bury Swim School!

Highly recommended
Our son has been having lessons at BSS for well over 18 months and his confidence has continued to grow during this time. Jake engages so well with the children making it fun and making sure his explanations are easily understood. He always takes time to praise them when they’ve done well. Bury Swim School
We have used Bury Swim School for years, both Ria and Rohan have been taught by Miss Ramsden and the team, the quality of teaching has been impeccable and we always recommend the swim school to others because of how valuable its been in giving our children the confidence when it comes to swimming. It's an extremely well run, efficient school and from what we have seen over the years the children always end up become confident swimmers.

Great swim school
Great swim school. Denise and jake are amazing with my son. They have so much patience with the kids and great methods of teaching. Would recommend to anyone whis looking to start learning to swim.

The best !
We were recommended to approach Denise Ramsden after disappointing experiences elsewhere approx 5 yrs ago. Once off their waiting list I commenced the weekly swim run with my grandson. It quickly became evident as to the reason for the recommendation. Sitting pool side where I could observe at first hand, the quality of instruction and patience with its delivery was immediately obvious. He was still nervous initially, had panic/coughing attacks when learning breathing techniques and disliked trying breast stroke. For obvious reasons, he much preferred learning back stroke!! However Denise and then Jake gradually encouraged him to tackle each of his fears in a firm but fun way with quips and individual feedback. They both seem to have a natural ability to communicate with the children without being too authoritative. Instead they gain their trust and cooperation. As others have commented, their emphasis is not to rush the pupils through a series of badges but more importantly to concentrate on their techniques. After all it is this which could save their lives when away from the safe, guarded environment of the school pool ! Somehow they also manage to monitor and communicate with each and every one of the pupils during the lesson so none of them feel left out. Under this regime my grandson progressed not only with mastering his breathing, but his speeds improved using his newly learned techniques. Breast stroke has now become his favourite and fastest style of swimming. We now have a true water baby, who loves his time in the pool each week but is also a confident and happy swimmer in the sea and lakes. I cannot recommend Bury Swim School highly enough! They are a credit not only to themselves but to Bury Grammar school whose premises they use to produce these confident young swimmers.

Great swim school
Denise and Jake made my children feel at ease in their lessons right away. The swimming instruction has been very specific to my children and they've both improved in just a short time.

A calm and nurturing experience!
My two boys have had a fantastic time learning to swim at Bury Swim School. Miss Ramsden and Amy provide a nurturing experience and are calm and patient and get the best from all children. I’ve been really impressed so far!
