Booked a car with Avec via booking.com for my trip to Istanbul. It was decent price, car in mint condition, booking desk located in the terminal and easy to find. Paper work done in few minutes and I've been given appropriate advice regarding different insurance covers.Also I was provided with a phone number in case of emergency.I received my deposit few days after returning the car.No problem at all; strongly recommended.

I booked a car with AVEC through Booking.com 15 days in advance and had full confirmation. When I arrived, they told me the car was not available, and there was no alternative unless I was over 30 years old! I had already booked a car that matched my age and requirements — how is it suddenly “not available”?Their only solution was to cancel the reservation and refund me, leaving me to search for another car at the airport for two hours after a 6-hour flight, exhausted and stressed.It got even worse when I contacted Booking.com for the refund — they told me the company is refusing to return the money and won’t even respond to them.Honestly, this is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with: unprofessional, unreliable, and a complete waste of time. I do not recommend them to anyone.

Our experience with Avec Rent a Car in Kayseri was nothing short of a disaster, and travellers deserve to be warned.We booked a 7-seater vehicle through Booking.com for our trip, a booking that was fully confirmed and paid for in advance. We were a group of 7 people with luggage, so the correct vehicle size was absolutely essential.When we arrived in Kayseri, the Avec employee showed up with a 5-seater car, which was completely useless for our group. Instead of taking responsibility, he casually told us there was a “glitch” in the Booking.com system and that they had no 7-seaters available at all, despite our confirmed reservation.What makes this worse is how carelessly and unprofessionally the situation was handled:The employee offered zero solutions and showed no accountability for their mistake.He simply told us to cancel the booking through Booking.com if we wanted a refund, as if this enormous inconvenience was somehow our problem to solve.We were left stranded at the airport with all our luggage, forced to rent another car last-minute at a higher price.And the story doesn’t end there.When Booking.com tried contacting Avec Rent a Car to confirm the issue, Avec completely ignored them for an entire year. To this day, Avec has refused to provide even a simple response or explanation. Their silence shows exactly what kind of company they are: unreliable, unresponsive, and unwilling to take responsibility for their own errors.Because of Avec’s negligence, we ended up losing AED 700, not to mention the stress and inconvenience caused during our trip.I strongly advise anyone traveling to Kayseri or anywhere in Turkey:Avoid Avec Rent a Car.Their customer service is non-existent, their employees do not honour confirmed bookings, and if anything goes wrong, you will be left completely on your own.There are many rental companies in Turkey, choose literally anyone else.

Avoid this company at all costs.Paid for SUV got medium car, left pickup with 2 flat tyres. Car broke down 12 times through the night in middle of nowhere and my daughter was terrified. I accidentally returned my car a day early and realised 15 minutes later that I had made this mistake. Even though I had already paid for that day, staff refused to give me a car, re-rented the same one to another family in front of me, and gave me no refund. I lost both the car and my money — very unfair and poor service. Staff were very inflexible and unhelpful.

Very Disappointing EXPERIENCE
I have been a loyal customer of AVEC for over 4 years, but my experience with them has progressively worsened. In the past 6 months alone, I have rented 3 cars, and every single one has been disappointing.Most recently, I decided to give AVEC one last chance, only to be issued a vehicle in unacceptable condition — the car had severe dents and scratches, and the interior reeked of cigarette smoke to the point that I had to drive with the windows down. It appeared to be one of their older “airport work cars,” likely given to me because my rental period was long-term, rather than being provided with a proper, up-to-date vehicle.This rental was from Izmir Airport (Türkiye), and when I challenged the condition of the car, AVEC refused to offer me a suitable replacement. I was left with no choice but to drive away in a substandard vehicle — one that would never be considered acceptable in Europe.After this repeated pattern of poor service, I will not be using AVEC again.

Very scary experience specially when they try to scare you if you don’t take our insurance you will be in trouble! I would advice when hiring a car in this kind of hostile places take a full video on pick up and drop off!We hired the car with holding deposit which we still haven’t received.When we we dropped the car we also took video footage of everything.Also make sure you ask to sign the document in the language that you understand as they will make you sign the agreement that is in Turkish

I would not recommend Avec to anyone. The car I received was dirty, smelled strongly of smoke, and had several scratches that were not marked on the rental form. When I pointed this out, the staff seemed annoyed and rushed me through the process. Returning the car was even worse — they tried to charge me for damage that was already there when I picked it up. The customer service was dismissive and unhelpful. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

On July 30, 2025, despite having made a reservation for a "Peugeot 3008 Petrol Automatic or similar" vehicle at your Ankara Esenboğa branch—paid in full two months in advance and chosen based on trust in your advertisements—the requested vehicle was not delivered on the day of pickup.At the branch, I was informed that the vehicle type I requested was not available, and I was forced to accept a lower segment vehicle, the Peugeot 408 Petrol Automatic. I waited at the branch for approximately 1.5 hours, during which I contacted your call center three times, but no resolution was provided. The call center stated that the issue had been forwarded to the relevant department. At the branch, Mr. F***** tried to assist but explained that he lacked the authority and means to resolve the issue.This is the second time I have experienced such a problem with your company, and each time I have been left disappointed. Additionally, I have directly contacted your company’s general manager to report the inconvenience I faced.I would like to emphasize that I am a Turkish citizen living abroad and have been renting vehicles from various companies around the world for nearly 25 years. I personally prefer to support Turkish companies. However, while foreign customers are not subjected to such treatment, your approach towards your own citizens is, above all, unethical. Furthermore, while companies worldwide offer higher segment vehicles at no extra cost in similar situations, your company’s demand for an additional 30,000 TL is both unethical and unacceptable from a customer service perspective. I also believe that advertising vehicles not available in your fleet misleads customers. And still, after two months of advance booking, failing to provide the reserved vehicle and simply saying “the product you purchased is unavailable” raises serious concerns about your service standards.I strongly urge you to develop customer-focused and transparent policies to prevent others from experiencing the same inconvenience I did.NOTE: Always read reviews on sikayetvar Google Maps, or Trustpilot before trusting any company’s advertisements. Especially check how companies respond to complaints on platforms like sikayetvar If you encounter a generic, copy-paste response, be cautious.Lastly, although I couldn’t take action due to time constraints, I recommend that anyone facing a similar situation immediately rent a vehicle from another company and file a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board within three days using the rental agreement. You won’t regret it.

Extremely unprofessional. We booked a car and afterwards found out that the rental requires a credit card at the desk. We attempted to call the company and they told us that you can come by the desk and we can maybe find something out, but there is no guarantee. To be certain we tried to call again another day and then they told us that it’s not possible to rent the car with no credit card.

Unjustified Charge and Lack of Transparency – Disappointing Experience with AVECDuring a recent trip, I rented a Peugeot 408 through Booking.com and had a deeply disappointing experience with AVEC Rent a Car.While driving on a narrow countryside road in the Urla area, I came to a stop behind two vehicles due to a tractor blocking the road. The tractor driver signaled that it was safe to pass. As I attempted to drive through, the rear left side of the car lightly brushed the cart, resulting in three small hairline scratches above the rear left wheel—very minor cosmetic damage.When returning the car, I was completely transparent and explained what had happened. The staff handed me the phone to speak with a manager, who told me that because my insurance was through Booking.com and not with AVEC directly, they did not recognize it as valid. He said they would inspect the car, issue an invoice, and charge my card—after which I could submit the invoice to my insurance provider for reimbursement. When I asked for an estimate, I was told they couldn’t provide one until the inspection.Shockingly, just 5–10 minutes after returning the car and while I was at airport check-in, they charged 50,000 Turkish Liras (~1,500 EUR) to my card without sending any invoice or explanation. To date, I have received no documentation or justification for this excessive charge.This experience felt exploitative, especially given the minimal nature of the damage, my honesty, and the complete lack of transparency or follow-up. I strongly advise anyone renting through Booking.com or AVEC to be extremely cautious. If you’re using third-party insurance, be aware that AVEC may not recognize it and might charge you a large amount without warning or proper documentation.

My Daughter and I hired car from Antalya to drive to Mersin on 5th April, 2025. Car broke down 12 times, lost acceleration. Had 2 faults on screen plus large yellow spanner. Two and a half days we had no vehicle. Customer car was non existent . A terrifying experience for two women travelling through the night with no help or support

Great experience with Avec Antalya
Rented a small car with Avec from Antalya airport and it was great. The office is right in the terminal, the agent was helpful and accomodating. The car was a brand new Clio and was very clean with a full tank. Pickup and return were quick with no wait. The deposit was returned after a few weeks but without any hassle or having to remind them about it. Oh and most importantly they didn't try to push their insurance on me. Thanks Avec Antalya.PS. I think only people with bad experiences post reviews here and judging by the small number of reviews compared to other companies I figured this was my best option. Anyway I came back after the trip to actually share a good review here.

I rented a vehicle from Avec in March 2025. Unfortunately, I was involved in a minor collision — but I followed all procedures, obtained a police report, and clearly demonstrated that I was not at fault.Despite this, Avec attempted to charge me for the damage and are still holding my deposit. Worse, they have ignored multiple emails and made no effort to resolve the issue. This is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of professionalism and customer service.Avec proved to be an unreliable and untrustworthy operator. If you value transparency and fair treatment, do not rent from them.

After reading all the bad reviews I thought it was going to be a bad company, but for me it was great.Rented a car from them for 3 days in Turkey. They picked me up from the airport and went to their off-airport rental office, a few minutes away. Did some paperwork, paid the deposit and rental fee. They rented me a fairly new car, clean inside and outside. It was also great we got free water bottles with our rental. Nice touch.When we returned the car the rental guy checked car and said it was no problem and drove us back to airport. One week later I got my deposit back. No problems. Great experience!The only thing I did not like (not Avec fault) that I made reservation through some other web site Discovercars, where i bought full insurance. Ive read others have problem with this setup when they had accident and Discovercars claim "we are only a search site". When I rent again I will reserve directly through Avec web site and use their insurance instead.So in short, for me it was great rental. I hope it stays that way, and no surprises after. Avec should translate their paperwork to English so it is more clear to rent for non-Turkish people. Good for both Avec and customers.(I will keep this review updated)

It’s a scam, stay far away
Rented a car that was more expensive than, and still got the cheaper one, and not getting a single penny as a compensation for getting a cheaper car, and they refused either to compensate the difference, nor would refund me all the money. Stay as far away as you can, it’s just a scam

AVEC rent a car- İstanbul
The main take away from my recent horrible experience with AVEC is that at anytime (could be weeks or months) after the renter returns the car undamaged and receives back full refund of his/her the deposit, AVEC can claim that they found a problem with anything under the hood or on the underside of the car, or the electrical system and charge the renter's credit card without PRIOR notification, discussion and approval by the renter. This is exactly what happened to me which is similar to many the reviews written below.Below are the details of my experience;I rented a car from AVEC Istanbul Airport branch for 9 days and I returned it on the 9th day (on 05 January, 2025). The car was inspected by AVEC staff on the returning day and all was fine (no accidents, no scratches, no damage etc) and I was refunded my full deposit few days later. However, 19 days after (24/01/2025) I returned the car, I received an SMS notification from my Turkish bank that my credit card was charged by AVEC 24317.07 Turkish Lira ($700USD with today's exchange rate). This was a total surprise to me. I called AVEC customer service inquiring about this charge and was told the charge was for the repair of the damage I caused to the radiator. This was a total surprise to me because AVEC never (before unknowingly I was charged the 24317.07 tl on 24/01/2025) mentioned to me the damage to the radiator. When AVEC customer service contacted the airport branch, the branch sent me photos of plastic cups filled of red color antifreeze liquid and photos of the top of the cooling system. They never explained how this claimed damage could have occured. I raised this very point with customer service whom she contacted them. Then the branch sent me a WhatsApp message stating that the damage was due to the fact that the underside of the car was hit hard and the impact damaged the air conditioning system. They NEVER sent me photos of the alleged damage to the underside of the car. AVEC airport branch sent me car repair workshop order. It shows that the car was sent to the repair workshop 10 days after i returned it. I would have expected AVEC to have contacted me the day the claimed damage was discovered (AVEC claimed the damage was discovered one day after I returned the car) and discussed this with me and better yet invite me to see the damage. Of course none of this happened. Instead they charged my credit card.
