Did not honor Recall on expensive bike

Did not honor Recall on expensive bike, their Allen Ultra X folding bike. I provided the information they asked for, quite extensive and their only criteria was that it was purchased on Ebay or Amazon. When I gave them my eBay receipt (financed via Paypal), they said it wasn't an "authorized" seller. What does that even mean? I have the bike, can't ride it and gave them everything they asked for. STAY AWAY

Never buy a Allen bike rack

My carbon fiber bike was damaged as the Allen bike rack failed and my bike was unfortunately dragged and damaged. Allen Sports has to be one of the worst companies in America. You cannot talk to anyone since they won’t communicate over the phone. Further they are absolutely not responsive to my emails. Beyond frustrating. I am going to contact the Better Business Bureau and blow them up on social media. Terrible product and terrible customer service. Don’t try to save money buying their pitiful bike racks that fail. It will substantially damage or destroy your bike.

The four space bike rack will ruin your bike

The four space bike rack will absolutely scratch up all your bikes you put on Due to a huge metal part which pokes out where the bikes rest when opend. Don't buy it. If you did, a peice of foam works but it's definitely not the best solution. DONT RUIN YOUR BIKES. DONT BUY THIS SHIT.

Very poor design

This is for the S102 2-bike rack on a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, as recommended by the Allen website. The first thing I did was put rubber backing on all the hooks. Who thought that metal on metal was a good way to go to protect the finish on your vehicle? So I finally got out and mounted the rack on my SUV and went to hang my bike on the nearest mount to the vehicle, as recommended. I'm glad I went for a 2-bike rack, because the bike pedal hits the vehicle on the closest mount, making this a really big 1-bike rack. I thought I would just try and move the spacer between the two mounts. Allen has fixed it so I can't remove the bolts at the end, due to the red plastic end caps, so I won't be able to do that. Very poor design, with very limited ways to even correct the issues myself. I haven't actually traveled with the bike mounted yet, so we'll see what new issues arise with that. It has been more than 30 days, so I guess I'm just stuck with the crappy rack now. Will not buy another Allen rack.

I would give this company a lower…

I would give this company a lower review if that were possible I feel that their customer service policy and products are dangerous. I personally had a product fail, and both my bikes fell off in the street upon researching this there’s literally dozens of accounts the same thing Wen brought to the attention of the company they blamed me said it was my fault. I didn’t do something right and that had I learned how to use the product properly. It wouldn’t have happened. I don’t even care about the refund. I honestly think this is gonna kill somebody I’ve written several letters to them, they don’t care they’re simply saying it’s my fault too bad I don’t know what else I can do but try to warn other people to stay away from Alan sports and certainly do not trust your bikes or anyone’s life by using their systems .

Faulty bike rack design causing critical failure (4-bike hitch rack)

After a few uses, the locking "wedge" piece that secures the rack inside the hitch cracked. This piece is made of a brittle cast metal and can't handle the stress from tightening the rack inside the hitch - even though that is exactly it's purpose/function. The company has not stood behind their product and refuses to reimburse me for this replacement part.

Top Strap Broke First Usage Damaging All Bikes

The top strap and a buckle broke the first time we used the Allen Sports rack. This caused major damage to our four bikes and minor damage to our van. We are extreme dissatisfaction with the Allen Sports bike rack that we purchased equally dissatisfied with the customer support that we received after reporting this issue to the company. We have a family of four, so we researched quality bike carriers that would work for our vehicle and bikes. The Allen Sports Premier 4-Bike Trunk Rack received fairly good reviews, so we spent $173.58 to purchase it on Amazon. It was brand new, only out of the box for approximately one hour of driving when one of the straps snapped (see picture) and a buckle broke (see picture) resulting in our bikes crashing down to the highway. This caused minor damage to our van (see picture) as well as major damage to our bikes, which were dragged dangerously down the highway while we quickly pulled over to the shoulder. This incident took place on Friday, August 7th. We made the decision to not let this ruin our trip and abandoned our bikes and broken rack on the side of the highway (see picture). We were able to contact a local sheriff deputy who moved the bikes to his personal house until we were able to pick them up with a truck on Sunday, August 9th. On Monday, August 10th we took the bikes to Momentum Bikes, LLC for a repair estimate. They have provided a repair estimate of $857 to $1,027. It is incredibly disappointing and infuriating that after we patiently called customer service and then proceeded to file the accompanying receipt, pictures, descriptions of all four bikes, make and model of our vehicle, etc, we received this terse and unprofessional reply: "Elizabeth, thank you for the info on this. If the carrier would have been installed according to the instructions, the buckle would have not failed. Unfortunately, the damage to the bikes would not be covered by our warranty. Our of good faith, we can offer to send a new carrier. Best regards, Nicole." We responded with an email explaining that the rack was secured following the instructions that were included in the box with two straps above, two straps below, and a strap on either side. The process was straight forward. We asked for additional information on what we did wrong and how Allen Sport was able to determine that the bike rack was installed incorrectly. The next response from the customer support representative was again abrupt and dismissive: "Luke, thank you for your reply. This was determined by our technician by reviewing your photos. We will send the rack to the given address. You can find some installation videos online at (link had to be removed).Best regards,Nicole"Upon receiving this email, we sent a letter to Allen Sport. This letter was sent on August 20th and a copy has been provided along with this report. To date, we have not received reply. We did receive our promised "replacement". To replace our 4-bike premier rack we receive a 2-bike deluxe rack in the mail. This rack currently retails for $39 at Walmart. We do not feel this is an adequate resolution. We have fallowed all instructions for installation of the original bike rack plus provided all the documentation and photographs requested by Allen Sport to process our claim. Given the short and condescending replies, we do not feel our claim has been adequately reviewed . Not to mention sending the wrong rack as a replacement. It remains clear to us that it was a faulty strap or buckle that failed, causing the rack to fall damaging our bikes and van in the process. We are simply asking that Allen Sport do the right thing by paying for the repair or replacement costs of our bikes.

Frustrating return policy

Frustrating return policy. Company does not help with return shipping costs which can well exceed $50. They do not care about their customers and offer no help when it comes to return shipping.

WARNING - PRODUCT CAN DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE

WARNING ! - it is easy for this product to damage your vehicleI attached the upper hook to the metal top of the rear hatch as directed, this can only be done with the door open (up). I wanted to make sure that everything was aligned correctly so I closed the door with the hook correctly seated. The door closed and broke a large chunk out of the top fairing (an expensive part on my Volvo XC90).At this stage, I removed the device and requested a refund as it was clear that the side hooks would have caused damage to the rear glass which is overlaid on the metal door frame.NOTICE - neither the manufacturer nor Amazon would take responsibility for the damage to my new vehicle. They rely on the "small print" to excuse themselves from liability.Buyer beware!
