Shocking service at The Polly’s Tearoom

Visited Marlborough and decided to stay for lunch. We were directed to The Polly Tearoom and after queuing for 7-10 minutes to be seated my wife asked the staff if we could have a table. The place was less than half full.As we were being shown to our table my wife said to the young lad that “accepting they were under staffed, if was still a long wait to be seated”, to which his manor was “I really don’t care” attitude. We decided that we would not eat there, and left, and noticed that a couple who were waiting behind us also left. Two lots of business lost!! Definitely could not recommend.

The food was straight from the freezer…

The food was straight from the freezer to the deep fat fryer, but priced as if cooked on the premises, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and actually. The waiting staff were very polite and personable but I resent paying £12.50 for fish and chips from the freezer! My tea was weak as dishwater, though my husband, who had coffee said it was a good cup of coffee. He had the Cajun chicken, again from freezer to fryer to plate. As he said; it wasn’t a patch on what I serve up at home. When we went to pay, I was asked if everything was okay, I could only say my husband enjoyed his coffee and I enjoyed his onion rings - damned with faint praise, as they say

Rubbish service extortionate prices

Service 0/5 - The table was sticky - we had to ask for it to be wiped. We had to wait 15 minutes for out tea to arrive (which was after the scones had arrived) and they weren't even busy!Cost astronomical (£20.00 for two cream teas)Quality 1/5 (my scone just crumbled). The waitress didn't know if they had mint tea, or not.Overall - appalling.
