My first horrible experience with sram…
My first horrible experience with sram was in 2020 after I purchased a Yeti bike that had sram G2 RSC brakes on it. The pistons would freeze in the calipers and not function so the pads would wear major unevenly and when the levers started to not function properly when almost new I contacted the sram tech support guy to let him know what was going on with my brakes he told me I had to pry the pistons back into the calipers with a plastic tire iron to free the pistons up and said nothing about replacing the brakes but rather how great these brakes were. So I continued to repeat this process too many times to count and finally brought the bike to Greg’s alderwood cycle in Lynwood Washington for them to evaluate for sram. So as I’m watching there lead mechanic take a 2 foot long steel screwdriver and try to pry the pistons apart using the lower fork leg for leverage (denting and scratching the fork leg) not only was I horrified but this also did not fix the problem so again for the third or fourth time I contacted sram and tech support told me the same story of how good these brakes were and refused to remedy the problem so I gave up and sram won. Turns out the G2 line of brakes was a huge failure. The second time sram dropped the ball was in February 2026 after I got a new Rockshox Super Deluxe ultimate rear shock for an upgrade on a current bike I have. After installing the shock on my bike when I opened the rebound circuit the shock would automatically compress and not pop back up. So after I performed many common shock set up techniques the shock continued to do the same so i set it up as close as I could and the shock was harsh and did not perform correctly.so I contacted Sram and guess what it was the same kind of response telling me it’s normal and how great there product was. So I brought the shock to my LBS for them to send it back to sram for replacement so they sent it to sram and sram did some Dino testing and did a lower shock service on my brand new shock and sent it back to me without the original packaging and missing some of the parts that came with the shock so again I contact sram and let the know I want all the parts and the original packaging so I can return the shock because I am now totally not interested in having anything sram on any of my bikes and they refused and said they could not do this basically giving me another middle finger. Then the young lady told me she is going to explain to me how suspension’s works and I’m pretty sure she could not even spell suspension and her explanation was pretty hilarious at best. So here I am stuck with another defective sram product with absolutely no support from the big S and missing parts for my new shock.Call me crazy but i would think that the big S would take more pride in their customer service.Looks like my only recourse is to share my experiences with people i meet out on the trail

Expensive cassettes bad service
Expensive cassettes, manufacturing defect wrecked 2 body's for my hub. Store Jonito where I bought the bike doesn't help with warranty. Sram itself is impossible to reach. With theit price range of expensive mtb cassettes they should be approachable for manufactoring defects. Now I am stuck with a broken one and even have to buy a new one. Would switch to shimano if I could. Very frustrating.

Bait and Switch?
Allowing their suspension forks that require a lockout to be sold without ANY means to use the lockout is PISS POOR. You would assume that a fork that requires a remote lockout would come with a REMOTE LOCK OUT. Nope, you get two choices of the same basic crap and you have to pay more for the remote. Pretty damn lame. DO BETTER SRAM! No wonders everybody can't stand SRAM!

Rear Derailler Bricked by software update!
Update for Sram Force would not complete and made the rear derailler freeze. Sram is shipping a replacement derailler so 2 starts but out of a bike for 2 weeks and poor execution for a fairly standard software issue. Apparently its a known issue.

SRAM Quality Control !!! ???
Bought 2 HS2 rotors for my turbo levo... the 220mm front was fine but the 200mm rear had a strange kink/warp in it that must have come from original sheet material or the stamping process etc. No amount of finessing with a rotor tool could straighten this kink. Anyway - i ordered another one from another retailer and the EXACT SAME KINK/WARP was in this rotor too. I attempted to return both rotors but one of your retailers (Total Bleed) is so afraid of your return process they wont just refund me!!! I have searched the internet and found 4 other forum posts talking about this same iss that 200mm hs2 rotors were supplied bent. so (1) what has happned to your quality control and (2) sort out your frightened retailers who wont refund me until you give them the go ahead... SRAM used to be my GO TO manufacturer for bike parts but if they dont sort these issues your going to fade into the background

Poor quality
I'm in the fortunate position of having several bikes so clock up relatively few miles on each one every year. My lightly used (circa 2000 miles) Sram AXS rear derailleur has recently stopped working as a result of a firmware issue. Tech support simply reiterated what's on their website and next to useless. They've now shifted responsibility to the retailer. I accept it's outside of warranty on a time basis (3 years old) but I would expect more than 2000 miles use out of any bit of a bike. I have a mechanical Campagnolo groupset that's twenty plus years old and still works as well as the day I fitted it.Given that it no longer works as a result of a firmware issue, I can't help thinking that there is some kind of built in redundancy. Unfortunately they have me over the proverbial barrel as I have no option but to buy a replacement. Well done Sram, you win :(

Steve K4 reviews2 hours agoNewI had a lot of faith in their products with previous bikes. Unfortunately I'm very disappointed in their customer service and warranty. I have a rear shock that was defective with less than 300km on it and less than a year old. SRAM would not warranty the part nor will they stand by their product that I had. They more or less said the shock needs to be service approximately every year. I have only had the bike since new for less than 8 months.SRAM needs to step up and do better. Will not purchase or additional upgrades from SRAM.

Wrong Manuals
Very disrespectful company, not even the manuals correspond to the products they sell. I contacted support, I they were unable to help me with the proper instructions. ANd that is a top of the line Fox product. Avoid SRAM.

SRAM poor customer service, no thanks to Daniel at stscanada "at" sram.com 604 990 7070
I had a 1 year old bike where the rear shox IFP seal leaked. Even if the shox is warrantied for 2 years, it did not apply as i'm the second owner. I did even contacte SRAM and bought a 200hrs service kit from Mikesbikeshop and installed it. I'm a mechanical engineer so needless to say that it was properly installed. Repair went awesome for around 20 hours then the aircan seal started to leak. Long story short, the bike shop refered me to Sram for customer support. Within a few emails exchanges, Sram throwed the fault back to me (apparently i've rided to much, shox needed another service, they dont warranty seal kits, poor installation, dirt debris, etc. It is not normal for a 1k$ shox to require extensive and multiple repairs within a year and a half from new. I will initiate a legal claim and see where that lands. I can't say product is not good but definitely that customer service is horrible. No thanks to Daniel at stscanada "at" sram.com 604 990 7070.

Great experience with SRAM rider support
I have a more than pleasant experience with SRAM rider support. I've asked more then several questions divided in 4-5 emails regarding the SRAM Force brakes that I have for more than 10 years and the possibility to mount new carbon wheels on such old brakes. Their employee in the support department has more than kindly and very patiently helped me to find my way around the questions and problems I have with mounting new wheels. Thanks Kim!

I brought 2 rockshox/sram reverb axs…
I brought 2 rockshox/sram reverb axs dropper postsBoth failed within 3 months with same issue of not fully extending , they were sent back to sram for repair, one was sent back after 3 weeks but was still faulty so inset it back again , this time they said its fixed was user error causing the issue as my bike must be to slack lol ,I would not recommend this company

Fantastic customer service
I contacted customer service to buy a spare part for something out-of-warranty, but unfortunately it's not available for sale. A few months later another customer service person reached out to me and offered to send me a replacement part from a warranty repair, and arranged free shipping to my local bike shop. I was really surprised they kept my request on file and solved my problem! Thanks Alex M!

Uninterested in warranty
Had a faulty shifter that broke after 1 ride. Contacted SRAM after Evans made it clear they were going to mess me about to get this warrantied.Customer service made it clear to me that SRAM are unwilling to stand by their products. They suggested I go to a dealer, who then expected me to pay to process a warranty return! SRAM didn't seem to think this was odd, or that maybe they should ensure their dealers are adequately compensated for sorting out warranty issues. They didn't seem that bothered about examining the failed product - I ended up throwing it in the bin. I'd have expected a competent company to want to inspect it, if only to improve their manufacturing to avoid a repeat occurrence. I certainly won't be buying any of their gear in future.

Great products and support
I have SRAM Force eTap AXS on my bike. This is a fantastic groupset. I have found their support team extremely helpful.

Battery drains
My SRAM drains the batteries every other week. Answer from the company: Nothing wrong. That is crazy

SRAM = $&@! Buyer Beware!!
So much for standing by their products! Buyer BEWARE - my SRAM Red AXS 12 speed rear derailleur went completely dead after 2.5 years - found out they only warranty it for 2 years! I would think a derailleur should last years and years! Now I’ve gotta shell out $700+ for a new one?!! Reading online that this has been a known issue - with many failing. And they won’t stand by their product? Going back to Shimano - will never buy SRAM again!

Although they have great made…
Although they have great made innovations like cage lock (that they urgently need to migrate to road groupsets), UDH, waterproof-easy to use-multi compatible-AXS system, the customer support doesn't suck....because it's non-existant. I had a brand new Rival AXS XPLR derailleur that was 'bricked' because of a buggy Sram AXS app. The problem ciculated on the internet for at least half a year before Sram did something about it (they don't answer to the questions and refer to the standard answers). I got the problem solved by using the app on a older Android version...after a long search on the internet (i had a old phone in the drawer). This happened one year an a half ago. Actually i wanted to comment on the faulty BB92/86 pressfit BB's that keep sucking up water & mud via the axle (and seize up). So after 4 years of using DUB i'll switch to Shimano 24mm cranksets in combo with third party chainrings. Sram doesn't listen to the users of their products. Only their own tests are of importance. ....and that's why they will never beat Shimano. So Sram service doesn't suck....it just doesn't exist....and the Rival derailleur's pivots were worn out after only 5 months of winter cyclocross (lot's of play). While i'm at it:Instead of removing the brake adjust from the Force brakes Sram should implement the brake adjust on all road and mtb brakes. Shimano can, so why can't Sram do this!?...it's a must have that makes cyclo life soooo much more easy (I use a Shimano xt brakeset on my Sram groupset mtb because if this). And while i'm at it 2:Why doesn't Sram able all the caliper bleed ports to be closed like on the Force and Red?! It's shameful that you have to let come the brake oil out of the caliper bleed port....after pressurizing the oil with the syringe!!Let these issues please please flow upward, all the way to the top of Sram development management.

Avoid this brand
Have to agree with others on this site. Bought a SRAM group set and the battery is faulty. Never charged. Tried to return it but they just not interested. Take your money and run. Dreadful service. Buy others

Stupid design of the levers
I’ve recently bought second hand from a friend with more money than sense hand a top end bike with SRAM Red brakes and gears. The great mechanism works brilliantly but, there is an obvious and massive design fault with the brake lever.Where you push the buttons, the piece of plastic is just far too deep, so much so that it is nigh on impossible to set the brakes such that your hand is comfortable and the brakes engage early enough.I’m sure they will resolve this one day, but I’d avoid for now. Shimano doesn’t have this issue.

SRAM or scam
SRAM or scam? Overpriced, underperforms, over complicated, not as compatible as advertised with a cheap feel. Not as classy, well made, reliable or as good quality as Shimano. Very frustrating when the bike is equipped with this junk!
