Salewa top Customer Service
Salewa has a really nice, professional and helpful customer service. I am super excited about the good service of Maria and with the very quick solution to solve my problem. Also the perfect advice for choosing a new pair of shoes is amazing. I got my new hiking shoes and looking forward to do many wonderful hikes with them. I would recommend every hiker the brand Salewa.

Now made in Vietnam. Horrible
They have been sold to a giant German corporation that is shipped production to vietnam. They no longer make half sizes. Only even sizes but they put a half size label on the same shoe. Quality is plummeted. Horribly disappointed. I'm in a little customer for 15 years. Not anymore

Wildfire NXT GTX Shoes
Wildfire NXT GTX Shoes: Absolutely dreadful grip in the muddy conditions, which is the opposite to the product description. The liner at the back of the shoe has already worn through in under 6 months / 120 miles. The laces don't even tighten up because of the inflexible plastic upper eyelet, and the laces frequently come undone on their own despite double knots. Total waste of money and the product is misrepresented.

Salewa alpine trainer II GTX
Salewa alpine trainer II GTX. What a mistake. In fact £160 mistake. Bought these on the strength of the sales person, another mistake that I won’t repeat. Within six months of occasional use on terrain the shoe is purportedly designed for the heel had delaminated, left and worn down to the inner right. Supporting the vibram sole motive I seriously doubt the authenticity of this. Purchased from a reputable high street company that I won’t name as they are merely the stockist. However as a word of advice I would seriously consider purchasing a more reputable brand. Definitely NOT recommended.

Bad shoe quality and worse customer service
Eyelets ripped out on both shoes. Terrible quality for $160 shoes. Would not recommend

I purchased a Sierra Leone II Pro tent…
I purchased a Sierra Leone II Pro tent made be Salewa. The tent poles keep snapping on putting the tent up. They are an extremely tight fit. I have spent £59+ pounds repairing one. I have contacted Salewa but they won’t help. I have read on UK Climbing that other people have had the same problem with the tent poles so it would seem to be a known problem and down to construction. How can Salewa justify charging so much money for a product that doesn’t work and then refuse to help their customers. My advice is avoid Salewa like the plague. After complaining to Salewa and on UKClimbing. I was contacted again by Salewa and offered both a replacement pole which has been delivered to an EU address and a repaired pole which was dealt with in the UK. The service I have received since complaining has been exemplary. It was only a pity that I had to complain in the first place.

Salewa mountain trainer 2
I bought a pair of the mountain trainers 2 and after about 4 months of light use I had the suede rip where it attached to the toe box which quickly turned into a hole , when I checked the other boot it was going the same way , build quality isn't what it used to be sadly. Used to be brand loyal to Salewa , not any more .

Boots fall apart
Bought a pair of boots a couple of years back. Comfy enough but they disintegrated fast. I'll still wear them for walking the dog in the summer but there's no notion of water proofing left in them any longer and I hadn't even put them through their paces.Probably could have sent them back but judging by these reviews, that would probably have been a waste of my time

Refund Never Came Through
I always thought of Salewa as a reputable company, but no more. I bought two pair of approach shoes, same model, two different sizes. I returned them in September (2024), and received a note acknowledging the return and saying my card would be credited "in a few days." But nothing. I kept emailing and kept getting the "just a few days" response. I finally have had to file a claim with my bank. It's just $300. Just give me my money!

Customer service refused to handle warranty claim
Customer service refused to handle my warranty claim.Passing the buck to Amazon, who passed it to salewa. They use inferior materials, I had 2 aluminium tent poles break, I wouldn't trust them on a mountain. You'd be better off buying a tent from Aldi.

Salewa Failed To Show
Well that’s me scammed for the first time … buying was easy , fully aware there would be a delay in delivery , kept updated on tracking …. Shame they never turned up …. No customer service to report either from company or delivery company …. Just ignored … this kit is not cheap either …. Such a shame as the kit looks good , will be sticking to good old fashioned going to a shop

No replacement shoelaces available
No replacement shoelaces available. The MS MTN Trainer Lite GTX shoes have prominent shoelaces that are part of the design and not easily found in aftermarket sales. These laces are quite fragile and several pairs are needed to support the life of the shoe. The replacement ones on the website are not even the size that come in the shoe. The longer sizes are out of stock for the unforseeable future and when they arrive they will be quite a bit longer than the length that came with the shoe new.

Customer service issues
[UPDATE June 22 '23:Six months later I heard from someone at Salewa USA, who's apparently arranged for me to return the items to Salewa USA for a refund, which I just did. Thus it appears this story (eventually) has a "happy ending." That said, I'm still not "giving all the stars back" because communication really could've been better and I still don't know whether it was at least partially Salewa's fault that my return to Italy was "bounced" back to me.]Sh!tty customer service. Poste Italiane was giving me no halfway decent explanation about why the package of merchandise I was trying to return to Salewa was being held in Italian customs nor why it was eventually returned to me. So I contacted Salewa to see if they knew anything. (Poste Italiane *had* claimed "the recipient [i.e. Salewa] has been contacted," implying Salewa might have been given some relevant information or possibly instructions which they didn't carry out.) Salewa never wrote back. Just closed my ticket. Even if (and I don't know if this is the case), Salewa wasn't in any way responsible for the detention of the package at Italian customs and its eventual return to me, the decent thing would have been to make some sort of response to me and some sort of attempt to assist me, not just passive-aggressively stonewall me and declare my issue "resolved."

short durability of Salewa and no repair for a 500Euro jacket...
I purchased a Ortles 3 GORE-TEX® Pro Hardshell Women's Jacket for around 500 Euros directly from Salewa e-shop. After only 2,5 years of not very frequent use one of the front zips broke (fell apart). When I inquired about repairs (which they claim that they provide) I was told to get in touch with a local dealer, that they would help me send the jacket for repair. Local dealer knew nothing about it.. I have been exchanging e-mails with Salewa customer service for two weeks now with no outcome, just increasingly frustrated. However, the statement that they have at their webpages, saying that "The durability of products is a question of honour." seems to be very far from truth.

Absolute waste of money..
Absolute waste of money..paid £175 for a pair of walking trainers that tiso assured me would last 2 years!!! Fast forward 9 months no tread left on soles and the upper had burst..Salewas advice go back to point of sale..tiso took one look and said I’d worn them out. Seriously!!! Got the impression once I’d calmed down ,that this was not the first time they had complaints and Salewa seem to have a standard response ..never again!!

Tissue paper would have lasted longer!
After being recommended Salewa boots by a few friends I decided to to take the plunge and invest in a pair of Salewa Womens Aplenrose 2 Mid Gore-tex Trekking & Hiking Boots. After my experience with Salewa I regret ever going near the brand! After only wearing these boots TWICE for trekking in my local mountain range the fabric covering the toe box area of the boots started to peel away. Salewa refer to this as a “Coated fabric” on their website, but to me this fabric is nothing more than a thin coating of tissue paper!I reached out to Salewa about the warranty cover on the boots and they rejected my claim basing the abrasion on my “peculiar way of walking”. I find this very insulting as I have been hiking for a number years and have never experienced anything close to this with my other pairs of boots from Mammut and Merrell. After spending nearly €200 I expected more from a boot! Another loyal customer lost and I’ll be sure to not recommend the brand to others after my experience with Salewa.

Salewa Mountain trainer 2
Bought Salewa Mountain trainer 2 10 months ago. They have only only had light weekend use (dog walking) and for 5 of those months they have not been worn as Wellies have been needed. Yet both shoes have worn a hole in them around the join of the toe box. Build quality is awful. Comfortable shoes, but only if you only want them for 5 months of light use

Bought a pair of approach shoes for…
Bought a pair of approach shoes for £160, after a year or so, a lace eye detached and the heel liners collapsed, then a little while later the soles started coming away. I contacted them with photos and the said that I should return them to Italy. I did this, paying £11 for postage. It took them over 5 months and many emails to send them back. They didn't replace the shoes, nor did they repair them nor did they apologize for any aspect of their poor product or terrible service.
