Do not buy this insurance*

They keep increasing the policy premium every 6 months, and you end up paying more than normal car insurance after the initial year. I highly recommend checking other normal car insurance to get the best deal. I would never recommend Metro Miles to anyone.

They are Masters of harasment !

They are Masters of harasment !If u have an older vehicle of which u cannot leave the power on continuously to the metromile transponder then they text ( lost signal) repeatedly until u get a chance to drive the vehicle again or get a chance to again turn the ignition switch on. If u own cars that are stored the signal power needs to be left on or they won’t trust u and jack ur monthly rate!- this is unacceptable n a crock!. Their rates have now gone up ( almost comparable to other competitor Ins company’s. They are being bought out by lemonade!

Misleading

0 stars. I was charged for miles that were not driven and a "no-signal" charge. I sent pictures of my odometer showing that my car was not driven for the miles indicated on my billing. I was told over the phone that my billing would be corrected. Their devices are faulty and notify me of no signal even though I plug them in and out. On top of that, they will charge you for undriven miles. My car was out of service for a few months, and I was charged over 1000 miles each month that I did not drive. When I notified them of this, they said they could not reverse the mileage. I was told in an earlier call that the billing would be corrected, and then I was told the opposite. Also, their claims department is unresponsive. I was in an accident, but I was at no fault. I left my information and was never followed up. I will cancel my service and find more reliable insurance. I do not recommend them. You're better off paying slightly more for coverage elsewhere, where you feel taken care of instead of taken advantage of.

I've been with metromile for over 3…

I've been with metromile for over 3 years. Rates have only increased in small increments and even decreased at times. I have had 1 claim, and that's why they loose a star. I submitted everything online, received confirmation, etc. Their Web system never spoke to the claim system, so I had to call in and go over everything again with the phone agent (who was very friendly and helpful)

NOT EVEN 1 STAR WORTHY

If I could give zero stars I would. Everything was good at first qhen I started. But since I had a recent total loss it went all down hill. Took over 5 days for a response from the first report. This company is super slow to respond, even the gentlman from the shop said metromile is the worst of all the companies. They havr a bad habbit of not responding. Than from there no the first individual I spoke to told me the cars was deemed total and needs to be sent to copart for stowing and to avoid storage fee at my shop. I told them about custom rims I had on them, and I was told I had cpe coverage and would be covered for them as long as I provided the receipt, which I did. Than week goes by with one word being said about the receipt and cpe. The case Than shuffled hands to another total loss adjuster, no word on the cpe and there first low ball assessment. I than let them know about all the add on the the vehicle which they do not take in consideration on there valuations, they Than provided another inaccurate valuation report without my add-ons in consideration and barley moved the valuation up. From there metromile Than low balled my rims to 200 and completely lied from what I was originally told which was to provide the receipt and I would be covered for the cost of the rims. 1st lie already. Than the 2nd 3rd party company they used wrote another incorrect valuation report without the correct add-ons and and other things in consideration, so had to make another phone call to point it out, Than had to wait for ANOTHER low ball valuation report to be written. But from there I got fed up and hired my own and the fair and correct valuation report that was written by this company was more fair and better detailed out as to why the valuation was what it was, compares to the company metromile used, it looked like a 4th grader wrote the valuation report and the cars they were comparing where nowhere near or remotely like mine (on all the valuations metromile provided me). Thankfully after many phone calls and a actual fair valuation report from another trustable and actually reliable company, we were able to come up with a fair number. Than I was told CPE for my rims was separate and I would have to wait for the case to close to file for that. I did so and was given the number to call back the original adjuster who handled the claim. I called and left multiple voicemails, with zero call backs after 2 weeks of no response I called back and was told somebody would respond immediately, however that wasn't the case and another 3 days past with zero calls. Than finally get a call back today from a highly rude and unprofessional customer representative who talked to with gettoh 3rd grader responses "like seriously O MY GOSH" that's no a Profesional tone pr manner to speak to any customer regardless if that customer raised his tone and was mad, (just had a total loss), take that into consideration and stop talking with unprofessional responses like a kid. However on top of the unprofessional gettoh manner she than told me.she don't have to be a mechanic to let me know what's maintenance item when I informed her a software tune is not a maintenance item that is a custome add on feature not maintenance. However she spoked over me continuously and told me she don't need to be a mechanic and works in the insurance industry and knows everything about cars. Metromile is the biggest headache when it come to Claims there by far the #1 worst with customer service and #1 worst handling claims and total loss claim and the 3rd party they use are fraudulent companies that need to be reported to the Insurance Bureau along with metromile. Ive been with several comapnies and i can confirm metromile is the bottom of the pole when it comes to insurance. There denying a cpe claim and telling lies over recorded phone calls. This horrible experience makes me now wake up to there horrible reviews and will probably make me shift to a new company. I hope this company get investigated.

Good insurance for city drivers

I have had Metromile for years and have used them for a major accident I was in. I got hit by someone and it caused a lot of damage. Though I did not have a rental as part of my insurance, they gave me one anyway. I assume it was because the other insurance company was going to pay for it anyway. I realize this is an ideal scenario if you are going to be in an accident. The process for getting the car into the shop, looked at, repairs approved, etc. was a few days...like within a week. They then handled everything on my behalf with the other insurance company. I thought I was going to have to pay my deductible when I picked up my car, but they covered that too and just added it to the bill for the other insurance company. Keep in mind, this really is an insurance for city drivers, those that just commute a reasonable distance to and from work, and those that do local driving. The rates are great and base costs are really low. I keep shopping around for new insurance and nothing ever comes remotely close. For those that complain about being "monitored," I say this with a ton of love and respect: it's highly unlikely that anyone is really that interested in your life.

I strongly do not recommend

I used Metromile a little over a year ago. They cancelled my policy with no warning. When I called in, they had the most atrocious customer service I had ever encountered.

Devices are a bummer

The insurance itself has been fine. The devices are pretty bad though. There are two options. One plugs into the OBD2 port, the other plugs into the "lighter" port. The first drains my battery because I don't drive enough to offset the small steady drain. The second doesn't connect within the average duration of my occasional short drives, so I wind up getting alerts that it hasn't connected for too long, and then I have to go drive around to get it to connect. Since the whole point of the insurance is that it's for drivers who drive very little, having neither device work well for that situation is pretty problematic.

Overpriced and inaccurate milage calc

The MetroMile base rate (rate if you drive 0 miles) is more than most companies charge. They also inflate the milage you drove, the pulse devise consistently records more milage than my odometer. The final insult is that when I switched to another insurance company, Metromile is threatening to charge me for the pulse devices even though I returned them.

Be careful

Be careful, they will never pay you. I had them for some time and had my car stolen. They ended up giving me the runaround and said they would not pay b/c I would not reply to their outranges requests.

Rates went up 40% with no accidents or driving violations.

I have been with Metromile for 3+ years now. Initially it was a great deal and good value. They were acquired by Lemonade which is based in SF and NYC. I think we are basically paying the rents of these young people who don't know how to run a company profitably.I have had no accidents or tickets and my rates went up 40% -- so high that I can get similar policies from Progressive or GEICO which I am going to do.I do not recommend either Lemonade or Metromile for your pet insurance or auto insurance. I am in the process of moving one or both.

BOGUS CHARGES & FAULTY DEVICES

Their pulse signal devices keep conveniently “losing their signal”, even when driving the device at least every 2–3 weeks, and they charge you a ridiculous “No Signal” charge. Speaking to customer support is absolutely pointless, as they give you a spiel about sending yet another new device before they'll reverse their bogus charges. It's insane that you're charged EXTRA even if you, for example, DON'T drive your vehicle.!!

Crooked Insurance Company

I was trying to cancel my insurance with this company and they would not cancel it until I reported them to consumer protection agency. They wanted to charge me on no signal fees for as long as they could for a car that was sold. They will try to charge you on technicality. Do not trust or do business with this company. I cannot imagine if I would have got into an accident, how would they protect me. Their customer service is pathetic. It does not matter who you talk to. They sound and act like robots. The are owned by Lemonade insurance. They are a tech company.

Watch out! I've been ghosted for months by them

Was previously a fan, but they've become a joke throughout my claims process. They just straight up will not respond. Does anyone even work over there in their claims department???Never had a worse customer experience at a large company. My claim was approved, and I was paid a portion but required a supplemental. Nobody responds to email or calls over there. They give me pointless replies every so often, but I've now been without my car for months.

Terrible company they denied our claim

Terrible company they denied our claim, after many times being hung up on by claims department, an agent slipped up stating the company didn't have enough money to cover this claimOur friend's wife tried to run him over at our house, they were arguing at the time when she crashed into our car and our motorhome we live in, with his vehicle which was insured by Metromile, luckily he jumped out of the way. She then proceeded to back up and take off leaving him standing there. We have all this on video and our claim is still denied by Deante Gaines in Tempe, AZAfter 30 days we received two denial letters, 1 saying she was an excluded driver on the policy, and 2. Stated their client didn't have a policy at the time of the accident. I was in motorhome when hit and was injured, our motorhome, door won't shut, cabinets are loose from ceiling, ext, and we just finished a remodel, plus, my car is wrecked, Unbelievable, pathetic insurance company.
