We ordered 2 rocker recliners from…

We ordered 2 rocker recliners from Hamilton NZ store July 2025 in material chosen from the lazyboy fabric range inshore. 3 times our order was held up. First excuse was out of the fabric. Last two times were shipping issues. Just received a call from them saying still shipping issues and new date for delivery in March 2026! We were offered full refund which we accepted and told would need to wait a week for the refund. I would never recommend lazy boy furniture to anyone. Delivery issues. Who do they think they are?

Poor quality even worst after care

I’m writing this on behalf of my mum, who spent an absolute fortune on a La‑Z‑Boy 3‑seater recliner and matching armchair, believing she was investing in a premium, long‑lasting product. Unfortunately, the experience has been the complete opposite. The furniture is only around three years old, used by one person living alone, yet the leather is already showing noticeable wear. Both USB chargers have failed on the armchair and the sofa. Worst of all, the power armchair stopped working entirely after being left in the reclined position.La‑Z‑Boy’s warranty is handled by Castelan Group, and their service has been nothing short of shocking. They were contacted in early November but didn’t bother to come out until late November. All they did was put the chair back into a normal position and then told us it wouldn’t be repaired before Christmas. That meant my mum an elderly woman was left without a working power recliner for over two months.Today (2nd January 2026), Castelan finally emailed to say they’ve now ordered the part. So realistically, you’re looking at nearly three months to resolve even the simplest issue. Completely unacceptable. After this experience, I looked up more reviews and realised this isn’t unusual La‑Z‑Boy and Castelan both seem to have a terrible reputation for customer service and warranty support.Avoid both companies. The products are overpriced, the quality is questionable, and the aftercare is an absolute joke. We will never purchase from La‑Z‑Boy again.

Corporate Scam - Warning DO NOT BUY any furniture from La-Z-Boy.

Bought 2 recliner totaling $3742. Both chairs same model, one decked-out with leather costing $2,142. 1st day the chair makes extremely loud noises when rocking, so loud my family asked that I no longer rock in it. Also, the Leather chair ($$$) my feet are 4" from the floor when I sit in it. When I sit in the other chair identical model, they are flat on the ground. Same goes for the leather chair in the store my feet were flat on the ground.I called the store, and they said that it is not their problem that they are "Just a Gallery" and the chair warranty "should" take care of it. Now the rest of the story...They pushed my call to some 3rd party customer care which could not tell me when they will be out.The last time I purchased, nearly $4K for 2 chairs from La-Z-boy and had issues the warranty folks came out a few weeks later and said they had to order Parts. 2 years later still waiting on the parts and I have to pay for as they are not covered by the "Life-time Warranty" I paid for. Will keep updating this story.Do not buy a chair from this Corporate SCAM... Poor Quality and Service.

Stay away from Lazy boy

We bought the recliners because we had good luck in the past. We were very disapointed with the workmanship in the newer line for recliners. We bought the all electric wall hubbers in leather and within two years the leather started to rool off in layers. The company said they could replace the piece for a very large prict. I can buy a better recliner anywhere for less than they wanted to replace the one piece. Stay away from Lazy boy. they rip you off big time.

Leather Quality

Purchased a $3000 plus recliner supposedly all leather. Within four months headrest Leather is worn off making one wonder if it’s real leather. Currently going through warranty Support, which takes a long time and we’ll see what happens.

3 month old sofa wear

3 month old VERY EXPENSIVE sofa with pilling and nap wear. Nap wear is covered under their 1 year warranty. Customer service told me to use a fabric shaver, and claimed that it would not harm the fabric. No other resolution offered. Repeated shaving over time can thin out the fibers or change the texture of the fabric. On high-friction areas (like seat cushions) repeated shaving may cause uneven wear or expose the backing fabric.

I purchased a recliner with heat and…

I purchased a recliner with heat and massager. I called about the massager sticking in my back. They brought a tech. out to look at it. He added more cushion to it but still happening. I went back to store and the person argued with me and said I tried it in the store so why am I complaining now. After arguing they ordered me a new back. I installed it myself. Now the heating is blown Customer Care called and wants me to pay for someone to come and look at it, and if it is the part I would have to pay for the labor I spent over $2000 and I'm not put out any more money. I advise no one to purchase and La -Z -boy furniture.

this is mainly a design flaw

this is mainly a design flaw. I have had 2 lazyboy recliners and one cheaper make. My latest one is an electrically operated one and the main design flaw is the operating switch which is located too far back front of the chair to be comfortable to access and operate. Also, I have just had a fractured right shoulder which has made it impossible to now reach the switch at all as operation is on the right hand side. Why can't Lazyboy have a pull out operating switch so that it can be used by either right or left handed people? Also my most comfortable recliner was the cheaper one I had.

electric lift recliners have shoddy electronics

Bought 2 electric lift recliners, 9 months old and still under warranty. Both failed to work electronically about same time (no recliner, no lift). Zoom call with tech resulted in parts being ordered. Could not expedite sending parts, could not schedule service til parts arrived. After 2 weeks got parts and called to schedule repair. 25 day wait! No expediting, even though my husband has Parkinson’s and needs the lift function to get up. Unacceptable that new chairs are unusable for over 1 month!! What happens when the warranty expires??!

Don't Buy Anything At Any Lazy Boy, Ever.

Do you want to spend thousands of dollars on furniture that is just junk, I have the place for you. There is a reason Lazy Boy has been sued, there is a reason other cheaper stores are now selling what is supposed to be high end furniture. Lazy Boy is nothing like it was a decade ago. Their furniture and I mean all of it is the worst. It is made without care and has fun breaking and falling apart.Sadly, we got sucked into them. DON'T. The salespeople claim they know so much. They don't. They make promises with no intention of keeping them. I promise you that you can get get the cheapest recliner at Wal Mart and it will be better than the expensive junk I have now.And their great sales, ya, they have them all the time and then when you demand a percentage taken off because of the horror you are put through you will hear, well we can't, it was the this or that sale. We bought a reclining sofa, a reclining rocking chair and a reclining love seat (all custom orders). We paid top dollar for this junk. We were forced to wait months and months for anything to be delivered and when it was the sofa had rips, the love seat had tears and it all had to go back to be remade. They actually delivered that. The recliner rocker was okay for about a month and then just started to sink. Call Lazy Boy, ya, they won't call you back.....ever. They don't care at all.Second delivery, we are now close to 6 months later and the sofa was acceptable and the love seat recliner again was torn, had rippled seams and it did not work. Fun. What we really loved was watching one delivery guy take out our rocking recliner and toss it outside. He said he thought he was really old. Now it was less than 3 months old. He put it back and broke the reclining function. So, now that has to be repaired--3 weeks later and it has never been 100% since. After that mess a third delivery is made of the broken, messed up love seat that reclines. I took possession. Within 3 weeks it started to sink in the back and bottom where I sit. Now this cost thousands. I now have to use a pillow to sit on it or it hurts. That remote is working--yay for them. The sofa came with the wrong pull ups and has these horrid wires to get a seat to recline. We don't use it. Ever. And again, you call and call and they will never get back to you once you have their junk. My last recliner chair was, in fact, from Wal Mart. I wish I had that back. Lazy Boy took all our money and there is no lumbar support at all.Don't be fooled. We were ripped off over 4K for sofa that is not what we ordered, 4K for a recliner and and another over 5K for the love seat that is unusable without pillows to support you and it looks awful with the sinking in that one can't miss when they come in my door. Now, this does not include, tax, delivery and waiting for month up month.Next time I am going to just get Wal Mart. Cheap, but it works for years and you get what you pay for. At Lazy Boy you will just be forever mad.Stay away from them. They are not high end, they are just super expensive and all the lies they tell. What a fool we were. Don't be use. Don't even look. Their salespeople lie.

This company is completely…

This company is completely irresponsible because they charged me $5,000 for two reclining sofas, but one was the wrong color, which I never chose, and the second, when reclined, made a lot of noise. They didn't acknowledge any responsibility, but suggested they would give me a great discount on a new one.

Purchased a new love seat recliner and…

Purchased a new love seat recliner and after a few weeks it started creaking, groaning and unstable when you reclined. Have called numerous times but they refuse to do anything. Always say they are sending an email and that I need to attach pics, but the email never comes. How do you take pics of the inside and poor workmanship? Even the repair guys say that the Lazy Boy furniture is not what it used to be.

Regret and Remorse

Purchase extremely expensive sectional with upgraded fabric. 16 months later anywhere we sit has become matted and faded. Cushioning has not held its shape and ridges of padding now show. Companys’ answer is to give me a quote to reupholster / repair.Complete disappointment and regret. Having to look at this mess everyday is a new level of stress . ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.Shop elsewhere!

I purchased two nice leather recliners…

I purchased two nice leather recliners from a Lazyboy store. Unfortunately, in two years time they both are cracking all over. They both were treated every 6 months with the best treatment. Lazyboy responded by saying “sorry, out of warranty “. Don’t not buy a leather product from Lazyboy.

Lazy-Boy Deceptive Business Practices!

My wife and recently agreed to purchase a new sofa bed at the location in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. They had a sale on at this location where you received a couple of scratch cards to enhance the discount received on the final price agreed upon. As the piece we agreed to purchase was the last one in a discontinued fabric, they reduced the price. However, the salesman never told us that the sale was ineligible to apply the scratch card discount to. We scratched the cards and thought we had received another 10% discount. We agreed on the price and finalized the bill. As we were about to pay the price agreed upon, the salesman told us the piece wasn’t eligible for the discount and the price had increased over $300.00. We left. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this company!
