BEWARE!! Scam!

BEWARE!!!Yesterday I used this company for a car lockout service. Before the technician arrived, I provided the make and model of my vehicle and was quoted $85. When the technician arrived and unlocked my car, he told me the total was actually $200. When I questioned the price difference, he said it was the company's mistake. As I began to get my card out, he told me he could not accept card payments and would only take Venmo or Zelle. My phone was at 3%, and he wanted to follow me to the bank to withdraw cash. At that point, the situation began to feel uncomfortable.I asked if I could speak with a manager to clarify the pricing, and he became aggressive--raising his voice, accusing me of trying to scam him, and even calling me racist. I was alone, and he was standing behind my car, which made the situation feel intimidating.I told him I had $100 cash. He then said he would call the police. I explained that I was simply trying to understand the price discrepancy. He eventually told me to give him what I had, so I handed him the $100. He did not provide a receipt and left immediately.By the end of the interaction, I was shaking. I felt uncomfortable, pressured, and spoken to disrespectfully. I would not recommend this company, especially for women who may find themselves alone in a similar situation. I have attempted to contact the company for clarification and have not received a response.

INSANE PRICES

My car got locked out and it’s been sitting idle for a few hours. I try unlocking it myself but I don’t have the proper tools to do it. Mind you it’s 9:30pm most locksmiths are closed so I call the only one I saw open which was this one. (Biggest mistake) I tell them that my car is on and has been sitting idle and i was told they’d arrive in 30 minutes. They arrived at 11:30 already insane. Then they start telling me the prices for a lockout I’m seeing $190 for the lockout and i already think that’s an insane price but he adds on an emergency fee + late fee which was another $298… It was a total scam and I knew it and the sad part is that there was nothing I could do because I prefer my car to still be fine rather than spending more at a mechanic. If you guys come across this so called “business” please whatever you do just take it elsewhere.

BEWARE!!!

BEWARE!!!! USE ANYBODY ELSE!!!!. Showed up 3 hours after calling, This was a scheduled appointment not an emergency. Claimed to have the key to fit my fob and he did not. Substituted one that did NOT FIT MY FOB. Bait and switch pricing. Trashed my car and was rude and unprofessional. When I filed a complaint , I was told there was no pictures therefore no proof. AWEFUL EXPERENCE. You can go to a dealer for less and get treated better.

They wanted a $110 for just a simple…

They wanted a $110 for just a simple copy of a key , not a car key... don't mind paying for service or convenience , but a hundred and ten dollars is not a reasonable price by any stretch.

Misquoted Several Times. Received Empty Promises. Untrustworthy Company.

I was misquoted several times by the locksmith, Tim. When I scheduled the appointment, he quoted me much less for re-keying one deadbolt lock and doorknob lock and told me changing the locks would cost more. I was fine with that. He arrives to my home and then tells me re-keying was going to cost much more and quoted me a completely different price. He then said changing the locks would be cheaper. I didn't want to argue so I told him to just change the locks since it would cost less. He then installed one lock upside down and I had to point it out to him for him to fix. He did a sloppy job, and the doorknob was installed too loose. After the installation was complete, he asked me how many keys I needed. I said I needed five and he said it wouldn't be a problem. He then only gives me four and said that was all he could give me after saying I could have five. Very unprofessional and my new locks cost much more than they should have. I was originally quoted around $100 and wound up paying about $200. If I knew it was cheaper to just change the locks, I 100% would have done it myself. I could have sent Tim away but I needed the locks changed right away since I just purchased a new home. Very disappointing experience and will never consider using again. I will continue to post on review sites until Key Me makes things right.

This was one of the worst experiences I…

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a locksmith. When I called the company, I was told that a technician would be sent to provide a quote. When the technician contacted me, I again asked for pricing and was told that no quote could be given until he arrived. Once on site, he immediately began the work without explaining the cost or obtaining my approval. The entire job was completed in less than 10 minutes. Afterward, I was presented with an invoice for $1,457 to replace two lock cylinders and provide two keys. I strongly objected to this amount. After a dispute, the charge was reduced to $300, but the technician still insisted that I provide a tip.No written invoice, receipt, or documentation identifying the company was provided, which raises serious concerns about the legitimacy of this operation. This entire experience felt deceptive, unprofessional, and predatory. I consider this a scam and would not recommend this company to anyone. I am sharing this review so others can avoid going through the same situation.

KeyMe is a Scam Operation. You do not have few enough stars to…

You do not have few enough stars to rate KeyMe. The compnay is akin to a criminal organization and Trustpilot is doing the public a disservice by indicating otherwise. In most states locksmiths have to be licensed and bonded. KeyMe agents are virtually never licensed nor bonded. They routinely misrepresent their skills and association.

I got scammed

I got scammed. I called around 6pm last night because I locked my keys In my car, and I called this place because I noticed it was right around the corner from me. The technician arrived in 15-20 minutes which was fine. He told me it would be $290, but said he would do it for me for $270, requesting CashApp or Zelle payment. I am not enrolled in either of these, so I ended up saying I had $240 in cash, and he said he would accept that. I felt sick about it, but I also needed to get into my car. He opened my car in under 5 minutes. $240 for a 20 minute experience. Overnight, I just felt like this was wrong. I called today, and have talked to 4 people all giving me different information, saying that the technician gives the final say in price. I finally got someone to admit that the price is $19-200 max, but gave me no solution. The technician finally called me, said he made a mistake, and that he could send me $40 back if I would like, but that it would be coming out of his pocket. He really wanted to keep the $40, but said he would respect whatever decision I made. I have now spent time enrolling in Zelle and have gotten $40. I still feel absolutely scammed. I asked for an itemized receipt, knowing they would adjust the numbers in whatever way to make it $200. They sent me a receipt that is not itemized. I feel completely scammed, I was expecting MAYBE $50-100 for this service. Do not use them. Ever. I would also like to add that they have thousands of fake google map listings (illegal much?) so they will always show up first on google. What a perfect business model -- desperate people locked out of their home or car, a 'company' that shows up first on google (it showed that it was a 3 minute walk from the location I was in), and zero price transparency and people that will report the price is whatever they want to receive that day. Will be reporting to the BBB, although this scheme will continue. Customer service rep 'Brenda' was awful, told me I was lucky and got a great price and hung up on me.

DON'T DO IT. EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE, Poor Quality of Work

I called the 813 number and let them know what services I wanted. A locksmith called me back. He said I had to pay $29.00 travel fee but if I agreed to the service it would be deducted. Of course that was untrue. It took him close to an hour to re-key a lock that was already on the door, when I disagreed about the fees he just looked at me. I had planned on paying cash when the bill was printed it was $302.00, needless to say I had to use a credit card which they added the $16.00 fee.

Got absolutely scammed

Got absolutely scammed! Never been charged $250 for a locksmith job before! The guy said he will be here in 20-25 and doesn’t show up until an hour and proceed to charge me $250. He calls himself the doctor, very unprofessional. Will not be using their services anymore. I highly recommend another company

Horrible services and billing

I call them thought they were local ended up being someCall center that pushed it out to someone else who showed up the next day, ended up drilling out one of my locks because he couldn't pick it damaged it. And then rekeyed my lock on the front door and it's not working at all called to ask to have it repaired. No answer charge me almost $300 Other local locksmiths said they would charge less than a $100 same service would not advise anyone to use these guys, big scam.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. This employee charged me $400 for a lockout. Paid by venmo since he said it would be $440 with a credit card. He provided me no receipt, no invoice, nothing. When I called to get the invoice, I noticed he charged $300 extra for a key and programming which is a total lie. None of that happened. He apparently pocketed the extra $300, and he totally took advantage of a disabled senior on a limited income. His name is Avis Kibi. I have escalated this to a supervisor and am demanding that they fire this person, and send me the money that he stole from me.

Kiosk I tried to use was terrible

Kiosk I tried to use was terrible! No matter what credit card I used or if I used to scanner or the top to pay the machine would not accept my payment so I could not get a key. I tried yesterday and when it didn't work I called the toll free number and the technician reset the machine. It still didn't work. The customer service agent said she'd send a technician out to the location and I can try again the next day which is today. Try it again today same thing no credit card could be read I tried three different ones. Tried the customer service number today and was on hold for 10 minutes and finally gave up. I'll use a real locksmith in the future!

NEVER EVER

NEVER EVER, I repeat…EVER use this company! I’m going to BBB after this as well.Dec 17th I lost my car keys in the snow storm in Jersey somehwere. it was was 4 yr olds birthday on top of that. I was supposed to be multiple places for his party and at his school for his special day. Also I am a single mom will very fixed income. So finding out I now have to buy new keys BROKE me that day. I was a wreck.i called they came. said I needed a smartkey for just under $400. i told the man plainly I don’t have that. I already had to borrow $300 from my mother assuming it would cost that much.I asked the guy well I know my key had a valet key can I just get away with that instead? He says yes $250. Now I will take accountability for my lack of knowledge of how cars work and maybe he didnt fully understand, I TRY to give people the benefit of the doubt. BUT this man tells me to wait inside my apartment it’ll take 30 minutes and asks if the car is UNLOCKED. I say yes of course. After that, I zelle him (second mistake), he leaves I’m due at my childs school in 10 minutes and find out my car will not turn on.So I now spent $250 of borrowed money for a key to unlock and ALREADY unlocked car….that I cannot start. I had to cancel my childs birthday because I had no money or transportation to take him to Skyzone. THEN I’ve been FIGHTING with this company to give me my money back. The first few days I kept getting hung up on. Then told that they would do NOTHING because I gor what I asked for.It wasnt until I brought up THEIR WEBSITES 100% money back satisfaction garantee that they FINALLY put in a complaint/refund request. The woman lied to my face and said the money back garantee does not cover what I got until I sent her screenshots of their policy on the website. We are going on 2 weeks since this happened and I was FINALLY told I would get a refund. First by zelle….then by check….I called yesterday AND today and they tell me no refund has been issued. No one even knows fully what I’m referring to because they use a third party company for complaints….and now they are AGAIN starting an escalatoon process to “see what they can do”still no access to my car. ive remained patient this entire time, but NEVER EVER use this lying deceiving low life company. I al disgusted.

Okay service, excessive payment, pressure to pay by cash

I contacted this locksmith for an after-hours lockout. The door was opened by drilling the lock, and no lock or parts were replaced. After the service, I was initially told to pay $492 via Zelle. My bank rejected the transaction. The technician then repeatedly demanded payment through Zelle and cash and came back to the property, involving my landlord, which was very uncomfortable.I was sick with a fever at the time and asked multiple times for a written, itemized invoice and the option to pay by credit card. Eventually, after significant pressure, a credit card payment link was provided and the amount was reduced to $300.The service itself worked, but the billing process and payment pressure were not professional. I strongly recommend confirming the total price in writing and the accepted payment methods before agreeing to service.

TOTAL RIP-OFF!

A local locksmith quoted $135 to change a deadbolt. Sadly, he was busy for the next 3 hours. So we called KeyMe. A locksmith called us but his accent was so thick we couldn't understand him. He quoted $65 for the lock. We provided our address but told him that we were trying to find someone in our vicinity. He came out anyway without our approval. He changed the lock but would not provide a price. Then KeyMe texted the cost: over $600 for a simple deadbolt! $360 for 20 minutes of labor! This outfit is a rip-off. We will not use them again.

Absolute rip-off. You're better off calling a locksmith directly.

I had an incredibly shady experience getting a new key programmed. The technician actually told us we weren’t allowed to watch the process. It’s clear why: these new keys are incredibly easy and fast to program, and they don't want you to see how little work is actually involved. They charged me $200, which is an outrageous price. I found out later that even the local dealership charges way less than these guys.

Terrible. Avoid like the plague. Can I give mess than one star?

I ordered my vehicle key from a kiosk. I thought it was a great idea and cheaper than the dealership. I didn't see the option where it would save the image (other kiosks explicitly ask if you want it saved). I guess if you don't save it they make more since you need to go through the duplication process. They said that most orders ship same business day if it is received before noon. Otherwise it ships the next day. It took prodding from me to get a better eta (there is no order status available). They finally sent it out four days later. Fine. I was still excited. It arrived with a dongle to pair. Ok, awesome. Key was rough, but whatever. It isn't a dealer made key I told myself. I went to try it and it didn't work. Their tech support for the Pair My Key app is only available 9am to 5pm. So I shd to wait to the next day to call. Fine. They gave me something to try. I tried it that evening. Didn't work. Next day, I tried calling. Was on hold forever until it finally sent me to leave a message. I tried several more times that same day. Finally got a Nick or Eric who hung up on me twice. The first time, I chalked it up to a bad connection. The second time he said that he doesn't understand why it wouldn't work. AND THEN HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. So after all that time, I sent my key back for a refund. I hope the r fund process is easier than it took for me to get to that point. The app is a disaster! It also stores your info so the next person to get your dongle will see your information. Go with Car Keys Express or Tom's Key. Or go to the dealership. All are easier to deal with than this debacle of a company.

I got a Call Center rather than knowledgeable staff.

I called the phone number for an office in Elkhart, which came across as a South Bend number. The person answering was obviously outsourced from India. The accent was so thick I could barely understand her. I need a lock opened on a vehicle, but she refused to answer any questions until I gave my name and address. The quote was much too high as she said emergency. It was not an emergency - I told her so, and she still said it was the same price. I declined to give any credit card information, and she then abruptly hung up on me! Such poor customer service should not be rewarded with any business.
