Horrid company DO NOT USE

Horrid company DO NOT USE! After getting a seven day cheaper ‘trial’ for £7 their plan commenced at £29 a month. I forgot to cancel the trial and Bartley tried to charge me the amount (fine) but luckily I had transferred all money out of the bank account they had access to. They repeatedly tried to charge me in the space of a few minutes all of which were declined by my bank of course.I then went to cancel my membership whereby the crap website kept glitching and I wasn’t sure id cancelled it or not but given that there was a big “FREE” next to my membership, any normal person would assume that free=free??Apparently not because they tried billing my bank several times over the space of a few days. Usually if a paid service cannot get your payment they will just simply CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP or perhaps CONTACT YOU and ask why you weren’t paying. But no.Anyway, I meant to go back to check why it was billing me but unfortunately I got paid that day into the bank account they had access to where the £29 was immediately taken from my account.Within an hour of the notification I contacted Bartleby and informed them of the complication and that would they give me a refund due to the mistake I made BECAUSE of their crap website? No. Despite me not having used their premium service, and contacting them as soon as possible, they completely refused.Worst customer service I’ve had even though I thoroughly explained and even showed them a screen shot of the membership page that confused me with the word “FREE”.DO NOT USE. I’ve just read many of the other bad reviews about this dirty company refusing refunds.

Garbage

Garbage. Says I can get 4 free answers when I sign up. however it immediately brings me to the payment page. What a scam and waste of my time

scam company

scam company, first day of billing I ask for a refund as I have graduated college. seven years of using them and they wouldnt refund. Aside from this they got questions wrong 90% of the time for the last seven years

Horrible company..

Horrible company... 99% of the time answers are wrong, horrible customer service. Use your money to get chegg or coursehero because bartleby sucks

Fuming isn't the word! 1 week into the one month trial and they have charged me for a month at £29.95! This company is a scam! Refund requested and guys stay well clear of these cnuts

i WAS the biggest bartleby fan

i was the biggest bartleby fan , ive been using their service for about 2 years, their 1 month plan was 30 questions and around 13 dollars im not too sure, and when you open a new account, you get a trial for a week for 7 dollars and you also get 30 questions, but now they have changed their basic subscription to 10 questions AND increased their fee to 20 dollars a month, how does that make any sense? this is a pure scam now, and for a new account you pay 7 dollars also and you get 5 questions for the 7 day trial, absolute disgrace i will be moving to chegg, so disappointed.

Although I had previously cancelled my account I keep getting charged. I emailed costumer service a month back and never obtained a reply (that’s when I had canceled my account). Now I’m jume, they charged me again and I emailed them again asking for a refund and they won’t give it to me. I just graduated from my 4-year school and don’t have money due to the expenses for school and they keep charging me for something I can’t afford, it’s not fair.

No trick too low

Signed up to have a look, and immediately its rubbish, so I wanted to cancel, since it promised I could - but then it wouldn't take me to the place in order to do so. Its is instead asking for passwords and emails I don't have and asking me to signup again to another level of the scam, and still there is no account tab in order to cancel. Deeper you go trying to get out and even after you realise what they are doing, you still can't believe it and hope, trudging on for the tab to cancel out. Asking for emails that you don't have, asking for passwords that you don't have, sucking you in to sign up for more *&^ and lose more money AGAIN! They are taking your data too - Bartleby's is just psychological abuse. No trick is too low for these people. I'm just going to have to cancel my card.

Do not use this service

Do not use this service. I signed up for a free trial and immediately canceled and they charged me anyway and refused to give me a refund. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

My Essay was stolen from me!

I wrote an essay about a book called Night for my English class, and then I'm accused of plagiarism. Of course im confused so my teacher mentions the site bartleby and im in shock.. my essay(Pain In Elie Wiesel's Night) clear as day was stolen from me without my consent. Word for Word So im asking kindly to please take down my essay. I received a zero because I was accused of plagiarizing my own work!!

Don't know from where to start

Don't know from where to start. Basically, shocked. Part my fault as should have checked my statements. Subscribed to 7 day trial in May 2023 and cancelled same day. Was charged 7£ still. Later that month was charged 29.95£ and haven't noticed as I knew I cancelled. 2 months later checked statement and saw was charged again each month 29.95£ reported as fraud to the Bank and got card cancelled. Somehow they were still able to charge me every month for another 9 months on my new card and wouldn't not cancel. In total I lost now about 365£. Bank is requesting a proof of cancellation of subscription with them...which they never given me. There's no details or transaction history of payments even when you log in to your account. The only way to contact them is via email...and they keep saying I never cancelled a subscription that's why I was getting charged. I never used their services apart from one day and lost this money...not sure I will get money refunded through the Bank as they request for a proof of cancellation which I don't have. The fact that they were able to still charge me after I cancelled my card is outrageous.

I would have given zero stars if I could! I signed up today for a subscription for 3 months that was £19.95. They state that you can do a 7 day free trial, 3 months for £19.95 or a year for pay £59.85 or I assume for the year (I wouldn't even entertain purchasing one for this much) when I signed up I noticed that they had charged me £59.85!! I immediately cancelled the renewal of my subscription and emailed bartleby to explain and request a refund...they refused saying it was my fault! The sign up is extremely misleading and I'm usually very careful! I am not using the site and feel that if they were a genuine company, that they would have refunded me. I therefore can come to the only conclusion that they are just scamming people out of money! Absolutely disgusting! Warning to others to beware. They will take £59.85 no matter what you think you are signing up for!

Don’t waste your time on this website

Do not get a subscription to this site. They had seven dollars for seven days which I partook in. I got an email confirming my subscription immediately wrote back to the company that I did not want to further any subscriptions just like it said to in the email, I sent it to the correct email address and sent it like I said immediately after I confirmed the seven day subscription never heard anything back and of course after seven days I was charged 2995 or wrote the company and they said that there was nothing that they could do that that was the first time that they heard that I wanted to cancel my subscription so I wrote them and showed them proof of both, and they still are unwilling to provide my refund and I’m gonna have to go through PayPal to get a resolution on this I repeat do not waste your money on this website and their customer service is absolutely horrible!!!

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. Asked a few questions more than a week or so ago and ITS STILL IN PROGRESS even after my trial period has run out and renewed for a monthly plan. If you're on a timeline, this is a terrible option to use for assistance. Definitely goes into my list of bad choices. Wouldn't recommend!

Awful company

Awful company, terrible customer service, unauthorised charges appeared on my account and they refused to refund, will now request a chargeback through my bank, stay away from Bartleby, they are abhorrent
