If I could give this zero stars I…

If I could give this zero stars I would. The control board on this failed in less than 6 months. I thought that was inconvenient but good thing it has a 1 year warranty. What they don’t tell you is how hard it is to use the warranty. The list they sent me back of how to troubleshoot and what proof they needed to replace the part was long and would require two phones since it runs off Bluetooth and an app. One phone to run the app and another to video tape the process not working on the app with the door. They clearly didn’t read the email because some of the instructions state to use the reset button to reconnect the Bluetooth. There’s no button on my model which I explained in my inquiry. All I needed them to send me was a new control board, not even an entirely new door. I haven’t had the ability to have someone video tape all this proof for me 1) the app not connecting to the Bluetooth 2) me trying to do a firmware update (which I can’t do because Bluetooth won’t connect to the door) 3) me taking out the batteries, replacing them after several minutes and trying again. 4) me sending a screenshot of the last firmware update. There were more but that’s just off the top of my head. I will never buy a product from a company with this type of customer service again. I clearly explained the troubleshooting I completed that I got from their website— not to mention I’ve read elsewhere this is a completely know issue with these doors. Never ever again.

The product is well built and works…

The product is well built and works well. My recent purchase came to me defective and was corrected by Run-Chicken quickly without question. This is the second door I’ve purchased from them. These are easily the most well thought out, sturdy, and reliable chicken doors available and customer service is excellent.

Defective door. Customer service not responding.

I received a defective Giant Automatic Chicken Door. I reached out on Jan. 14th letting them know. I heard back on Jan. 17th, requesting a video of the issue and showing troubleshooting steps. I completed that and uploaded the video on the 19th. As of the 29th, I have since followed up 3 times via email and several times via phone with no response. I'm now leaving this review in hopes that we can get this resolved and my review updated. This many days in between responses is unacceptable.

Poor, selective customer service

I am not one to leave reviews, but as others have also mentioned - it seems like this company picks and chooses which customer issues they quickly and efficiently address. We’ve had a Run-Chicken door for about 7 months, and began having issues within the first 3. During this time we reached out to customer service, and spent days going back and forth, taking the door apart, videoing all the parts, putting it back together, videoing it opening and closing, etc. After sending a crazy amount of evidence, they sent us a new motor. (For context, our chickens were getting locked in their coop in the middle of July in temps over 100, I had to go out each morning and manually open the door which defeats the purpose of the product). Fast forward 4 months and we’re having the same issue again, except it’s now it’s an issue of the door not closing, and putting my chickens at risk of predators. We reached out, a few days later they responded asking for the invoice - to which I sent along with the case number for the previous case. I have since reached out multiple times for a follow up with no response. Looks like we’re stuck with a broken door that I’ll have to replace (looking at Omlet, seems to be a bit pricier but their reviews are better), and say goodbye to $140. Disappointing that the product can only seem to last 3-4 months at a time before breaking again. I’d go look elsewhere.

Poor customer service

I bought two classic doors through Amazon. The second (Aug 2025) was the updated, bluetooth version and works well. The first one (purchased May 2025) is programmed through a series of flashing lights. The first one was very slow at accepting the codes, initially taking 3 or 4 attempts, to where spending 10 to 20 minutes to program was the norm. Currently will not accept any flashing codes and I reached out to the company. After three days, their response was an email that stated all the directions that are in the app. I replied that I have been doing that all along and it still does not work. Currently I am having to manually open and close the unit. I asked if they would offer me a discount on the upgraded motor since it cost $109 ($20 shy of a new unit), and their reply: NOTHING!The Bluetooth version works well, but their Customer Service is well below par.

We purchased this for our cat

We purchased our automated chicken door about a month ago, and have been using it ever since. We decided on this product for a little bit of unconventional means, as we don't use it for chickens, but for our cat. We needed a solution that separated our food motivated cat from our other cat, who is much more grazing. It was a solution designed for when we have to be out of the house during the time of dinner feeding. Since installing the door on one of our bedroom doors, it has been a wonderful commodity. Our cat has had no trouble adjusting, and we absolutely adore the automatic stop feature if there is debris in the way. He attempted to escape a few times and that pausing of the door allowed it to not harm him. One of the reasons we were happy to come across this product is because neither of our cats like to wear collars, and a lot of the cat doors only have one way in and out access. We needed something that closed on a timer and opened on the same timer so that way we didn't have to worry about it. He has attempted to escape a few times, we've watched and the door holds even with him sticking his claws through the little holes on the door. We were afraid he might figure out how to open it by sticking his claws through the holes and lifting, but he has not. Thankfully. He is a very smart cat.Customer service was extremely kind and quick in response to our address being put in incorrectly during ordering. We received our package with no trouble, and they followed up with us to make sure. The quality of the door is solid, and the battery life has still been 100% for this whole month. Overall, we've had a beneficial experience and I've been advocating to all of my friends about this great solution. There are several brands of chicken doors out there, but run-chicken has the most easy, affordable, high quality, and ease of app use without any secondary purchases. The ability to program the door for an open and closed time really sold us. There's not much more that we needed on the app and they delivered.

When my door arrived

When my door arrived, the app incorrectly displayed it as a feeder. The company took the initiative to reach out and send a replacement. I’m very glad they did, since it helped me avoid problems later on.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. You have to email them the problem (in my case password reset), then they put in a ticket, a week later they send me an email for reset without a link to reset. This has happened at least 8 times. I have no way of controlling the door. Every time I email, it is the same. It is ridiculous.

Not reliable

This stupid door keeps them locked in in the am. Leaves the door open at night. Closes early on them. Literally all over the place. Needs to be literally an inch away to open with phone. Not reliable at all. Think we had 6 months or so.

Great product and easy to use

Great product and easy to use. Just wish I could set up multiple feeding timers to have a morning and an evening feed rather than leaving it open all day.

So far so good

So far so good. Eternal door was effortless to install and program. I do think the circuit boards and batteries should have an additional layer of protection against water intrusion but the company responded to my concerns and assured me they have thoroughly tested the components in all weather. The track design is superior to the string systems and the unit is solidly built. One thing they don’t mention is if the structure your attaching it to isn’t perfectly flat then you need to adjust/ be careful how much you tighten the screws. Too tight and this will strain the motor or worse pinch the door. On our old coop the wood was slightly warped causing some strain on the motor. Once adjusted it worked fine. While this was an issue with the wood and not the product, I do think having some sort of stand off washer or something to keep the door frame more rigid to prevent flexing would be an improvement in future models.
