Ilford store- awful! Never coming back!
We have been loyal customers for a number of years here without any issues. However, today was a completely awful experience. We pre-ordered a red velvet cake and collected it this morning. We have had this before and it has been excellent. For today's birthfay it was uneven, had a very, very thick layer of cream and not much sponge. I had to leave my event to complain about it and the staff member there accused us of lying saying that we ate the cake and asked for a refund. I said it was mostly cream so we had to throw it away so he asked for a photo of our bin which I got my sister to send me. Then he said thats just cream, I'm like obviously because thats what you put in too much off. Thats not how a red velvet cake should be. Then he said to get a refund you need to bring 90% of the cake back. So I'm thinking, its a birthday, we sing happy birthday, cut a slice and then inform our guests that we are going to cakes and bakes to return it. What a ridiculous idea! You have just lost a regular customer, I'll go to Cakebox two doors down now. Unprofessional staff and awful service!!Update- In response to your reply, the matter should have been resolved on the day when I came to the store. There is no point in resolving it 3 days later when the function is over. Your assistance would have been helpful on the day!

Was happy with my order cake was lovey but the message I asked to be written on my cake was done very messily the writing was awful and it wasn’t even in the middle of the cake so definitely won’t be ordering again from this business

Not the best experience compared our expectations.
The cake tasted ok, but there was a slight bitter aftertaste from the cream. Decoration was ok but handwriting unfortunately did not look the best. The Sparkler that was bought was not given, not sure if it was the delivery driver who accidentally dropped it or the shop forgot to give it. It was not attached alongside the cake or given in a separate packet and the person that received the cake did not see it either. A bit disappointing experience compared to what we were expecting.

The whole process of ordering and the delivery was really simple and easy. I contacted the company on the day of delivery for an estimated time and someone got back to me relatively quickly with an ETA. The actual cake tasted really nice and it was money well spent

Top cake London online shopThey are easy to order and customize. Delivery is excellent. They look great. Website is easy to navigate. Custom service over whatsapp is on the ball. They should introduce some fresh ingredients like custard cream. That could be sold as an extra. Some luxury fresh custard cream made with fresh vanilla beans from Madagascar. They should work on extras as cake taste can be improved

Horrific customer service
We ordered a cake for my sister’s birthday for a large party and paid extra specifically for morning delivery.The morning of the event, the cake never arrived. We tried calling and messaging Cakes and Bakes multiple times throughout the day and received absolutely no response. The cake was never delivered and our money was taken.This caused a great deal of inconvenience on the day, especially given how much planning had gone into the event. Two days later, they sent a message saying the cake should have been delivered along with a photo of the cake. The cake in the photo looked nothing like what we ordered and to be honest, in the end, I'm glad it was never delivered.I would not recommend this business based on our experience.

We’ve had an absolutely amazing experience with Cakes and Bakes in our area (Romford). They do a brilliant job customising cakes exactly to our needs for every occasion, and the turnaround time is always impressive. We never had any complaints to any of the customisations we did, be it our child’s birthday cake, anniversary or any other occasion. The cakes are not only beautiful but also delicious, super spongy and flavourful making every celebration extra special. It’s always our go-to shop for all our celebration needs.The staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and polite, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

Very upset second time.No answer to my request sent by email, message. I called over 17 times on the number provided and written even on the shop. Cakes are terrible but I had no choise around the area but to order from them again and I really regret that.Do not buy from them, I have found hair inside tbe cake as well.

The cake tasted stale the frosting used for the layers wasn't smooth had a weird almost sandy texture. My family has ordered from cakes & bakes at least 5 times a year for the last 3 or 4 years. This cake was unlike the rest won't be ordering again

I recently joined the Cakes and Bakes VIP membership, and at first I couldn’t place an order for cake delivery because of a technical issue. I emailed customer support, and Tarun from the operations team quickly got in touch, sorted out the problem, and was really helpful throughout. Thanks to him, the cake was delivered before 3 p.m. on the same day.I really appreciated the quick response and the effort he put in to make sure everything was taken care of smoothly. It was a great experience overall, and it definitely made me feel confident about being a VIP member.

False advertisements
As published by Cakes & Bakes, the VIP members have free delivery for one year within M25 plus it offers 25% discount during Christmas and New Year for VIP members. I purchased the VIP membership and when tried to place order for a cake to be delivered on 31st December in Barnet (within M25), not only it didn't apply 25% discount but also it added £12.99 of delivery charges.I called 5 times on their given landline and mobile during their opening hours but no one answered the phone. At last I send them emails with all screenshots and asking them to cancel my membership.What a sham and a waste of time!Further update:I was contacted by the company through WhatsApp and the associate suggested to fix it manually at their end, but seems they fail the basic skills. The associate was applying 15% on the price which was already discounted by 10 and their argument was 10+15% makes it 25% while I tried to explain the 25% should be applied on full price, but all my efforts went in vein. Cancelling my VIP membership rather than wasting any more time further with this company.
