The module on value was worth the entire course. Very in depth discussion and excellent examples, exercises and challenges to help the student understand all the aspects of value. There's also plenty of opportunities for continued exploration of this so important design element.

Master Class 2
Another wonderful masterclass from Pam and Art and Success! This one is about line and mark making. Let me begin by saying that I never had so much fun with an art lesson! Pam's approach to painting as play is so refreshing! Pam has you start out with hand crafting easy to make tools from non-traditional materials such as branches, shells, string, etc. I really felt the idea of 'art as life' as I foraged for materials to make the hand make mark making tools. But the real fun was the process of using them to create a 'no fear' sketchbook. Pam's encouragement of play and no mistakes resulted in marks and lines I never could imagine on my own. These new marks are a wonderful addition to my ever evolving visual language. Thank you Pam and team, this lesson was really fun! :)

I am just finishing up Master Class 1…
I am just finishing up Master Class 1 -- will be revisiting and continuing to work on the two sketchbooks I started in this section. I really appreciate and respond to the methodical direction of Pam's teaching, balanced with a clear understanding that how each person responds to and interacts with these lessons is open. Use what resonates now, come back later or not, there are no rights or wrongs beyond engaging fully as you are. This is not a lightweight course. Pam's familiarity with contemporary art is refreshing and sharp. I would say this course is for people who are serious about moving their art forward through better understanding of design principles, color theory, etc., and by becoming aware of universal and individual experiences and struggles and through better understanding of oneself.

Pam brings a very organised and in depth approach to these classes and shares lots of ideas to help get you started. Since the class I have continued on my journey of looking out for and collecting examples of line and texture that I may use in the future. I really notice I have more tools at my fingertips now with which to resolve my paintings.

It is so easy to find your place in this program. The website works wonderfully for keeping track of the lessons you have completed and what you might have skipped. Right now, although we are starting a new year going through the program, I am going back to the point last year where I lost focus. I can make up or catch up at my own pace.

My second year in ASM has really ramped up my learning, it’s a process, a journey of discovering more and more of my personal voice and having the ability to use the design principles to problem solve and interpret what I am seeing and feeling on the surface. Pam is an extraordinary teacher and her admin team backs her up and enhances the learning experience!

ASM - Importance of ZAP and Admin-led Sessions
As I progress into my second year of the ASM Pro course I wanted to share my experiences and the positive impact ASM continues to have on my growth as an artist.Revisiting the course content has proven immensely beneficial. It has not only reinforced my understanding of design basics and color theory but also deepened my appreciation for the importance of continuously engaging with these fundamental principles. Each session provides new insights and strengthens the skills I am working to develop.I particularly enjoy participating in the large group ZAP sessions. Despite their length, these sessions are incredibly valuable. They offer a workshop-like environment that is both inspiring and informative. Hearing about the techniques, supplies, and tools others are using broadens my perspective and introduces me to possibilities I may not have considered independently. The diversity in artistic voices present in the ZAP sessions is especially enlightening. As someone who is still in the process of finding my unique artistic voice, these sessions are instrumental. They expose me to various styles and approaches to painting, prompting me to explore what resonates with me and what does not.The Admin-led discussions, too, are a significant source of inspiration and learning, particularly in understanding other artists' methods and approaches. This focused analysis is incredibly helpful as it encourages me to reflect deeply on how I might similarly use or adapt these elements in my own artistic endeavors. For instance, this month's focus on Line and Marks was particularly enlightening. I recognize my preference for both structured, solid subjects and free-spirited mark-making. Previously, I felt conflicted trying to choose one approach over the other, but the discussion opened my eyes to the possibility of harmoniously integrating both styles in my work. Understanding that it doesn’t have to be an 'either/or' decision has been liberating. It allows for a more expansive expression of my artistic voice, and I am excited to explore this blend in my future projects. This course, with its rich variety of learning formats and opportunities to interact with fellow artists, plays a crucial role in my artistic journey. It encourages me to reflect critically on my preferences in art and nurtures my development in a supportive and engaging community.Thank you Pam and Admins for your guidance and for facilitating such a dynamic and enriching learning environment.

This is course is not a how to draw or paint class. It's about understanding the elements that make up art and your reaction to them. It doesn't matter what medium or style of artist you are. You will be a better artist than you were before you started.

I have just completed Master Class 6…
I have just completed Master Class 6 and am about mid-way through the one-year course. I went into this course hoping to "find my voice" as an artist and I have been surprised to discover my love for marks/line, color, and shape! I am turning 70 this month and sometimes you think you know yourself and nothing will surprise you. So you can imagine my surprise when I had ah-ha moments! How did I not already know this about myself? Already I can see how these newfound discoveries can and will influence my work. Now over the next 6 months I will have the challenge and pleasure of doing just that. Thank you Pam! You are a talented artist and teacher.

Pam is a generous gifted instructor. I've loved the variety and professional organization of the material. I feel that I've learned so much in just 6 months. I'm excited to put that learning to use in the next 6 months.

I explored value using watercolor as this is the medium I prefer. Although it was difficult I learned from ASM yr 2 more about watercolor. There is no pressure and so much encouragement that I have enjoyed every month and resisted the temptation to move at a faster pace. There is so much value in going deeper into value!

Setting abstract art in the physical world
ASM 1 MC 5, texture and direction. These lessons are so well written - I never know what I will discover about myself! In this class I realized that I prefer some texture and direction to follow the rules of physics, even in abstract and non-objective work. I am attracted to art where some rules of balance, gravity, wind, interleaving of parts, follow logic - as if the abstraction is grounded in the physical world. I am loving this class, and really starting to notice how the discoveries add up from month to month. Thanks, Pam! (and Happy Birthday!)

Art and Success and Color Color Color!!
I have learned so much in the Art and Success Art Success Masters Program!! I just completed the module on color and it was a blast! I loved learning about the history of color, and the infinite ranges and hues of color! Pam teaches you how to master creating any color you could possibly conceive and it opens a world of possibility in your art!

My second year at ASM
My second year at ASM means I can approach teaching without fear of not being good enough, and I think that's the most important thing for me at the moment. I didn't even realize how much pressure there was to make something BEAUTIFUL. I like what's beautiful, yes, but I also like to explore, try again and have fun doing it. My gestures are freer and venture into new experiences. I really enjoy taking a tool and using it in different ways to experiment with the different lines and shapes I can create. The results are often surprising and sometimes very satisfying.

Amazing Class And Instructor!
This review is for Master Class 1, Discover Your Soul, of the Art and Success Masters Course. We did a deep dive into our life experiences as well as things we love and don't love. I have never had any art class do this internal exploration to help us find our personal voice so that we can express ourselves in our own unique, authentic way. Pam is an AMAZING instructor whose kind, gentle, encouraging spirit, combined with her incredible knowledge and experience, will greatly benefit all who join this class. Worth every penny!!! Super excited to continue learning from her in Master Classes 2 through 12!

Discovery of yourself IS the key to making genuine art!
The step by step process in module one was clear and enjoyable for me on this journey of self discovery and my art. The personal examples of Pam and others made grasping the concepts easy and more poignant. I am still learning to find my own artistic self/soul, but I feel I am going in the right direction now. Excellent course this far for me!
