All these people do is sell your…

All these people do is sell your information far and wide. With one search on this bogus website I have generated hundreds of spam emails. Do not use them.

Be prepared for a flood of emails from any listings you "like" or "maybe"

I did the little questionnaire thing on the Apartment List website about what I was looking for and the website gave me some listings to review. I clicked "maybe" on some of the listings and got a pop-up asking me if I wanted Apartment List to share my info with the property manager. I clicked "no thanks" for each one but my email is getting absolutely flooded with emails from apartment managers. I have not interacted with any other apartment websites so Apartment List is the only way all these apartment managers could have gotten my info. Obviously Apartment List shared my email with them in some way. So I'm feeling rather misled by that stupid pop-up.. why ask me if I want my info shared if they are just going to disregard my answer?

Bad communication & curation

I casually looked at some apartment complexs in my area after using this site to browse in the past. They must have updated the "curation" recently. It shows properties that do not match the criteria I searched for. This site also sent my PHONE NUMBER and email to the property management of every complex I "liked," without making it clear this would happen. There is no op-out option in the profile settings for this feature. I agree with other reviews about the data mining. I recommend using another site to search for apartments.

Absolute data mining

Absolute data mining, I contacted the apartments listed in my curated listing and the availability and pricing were not accurate. The listing were not in any of the areas I selected. It was as good as a Google search, but with twice the work since you give it your whole life. They do not charge for the search because they sell your information. use yourmail+AL@ and see how much spam you get from the +AL address. Use a Google voice number to avoid the text spam when they sell your number.

Clearly a data mining scam site

Clearly a data mining scam site. They have you sift through lots of pages to try to assess what you are looking for only for them to ask you at the very last page to sign up to see the results for the answers you gave them. I didn't sign up of course.

Waste of time. Site takes you through several pages…

Site takes you through several pages and then requires your personal information to view listings. Waste of time and now that I see the reviews Im glad I didn't take the bait. Edit to add that I do appreciate the response from apartment list. That said I had no issue answering questions what I had issue with was being required to provide personal contact information in order to view listings. We all get enough spam and relentless email solicitations including from companies we never provided our information to because another website sold it to them.

I set up an appointment on the website but it did not sync with the complex

I set up an appointment on the website. I waited for a confirmation - I live 45 minutes away from the town where I am looking to relocate - but I didn't receive one. I had to start driving into town since I had made an appointment for first thing in the morning and if I had waited, I would have been late. Approximately 15 minutes prior to my appointment, I called the complex and was told "oh, our website doesn't 'talk' to theirs so anything that gets put on their schedule does not sink with ours." So, basically, everything I entered and anything I believed about the complex such as available units or "move in today" type language was all for naught. No idea why any apartment complex would pay to use this third party scheduling site when all it does is make the actual apartment complex look bad. So, needless to say, I did not have an actual appointment, I had to schedule one, so the time I wanted was already take, and none of the information I input was saved. Useless site.

Basically broken

Apartments they show you will be outside of preferred areas and way out of budget, regardless of set preferences. You also have to email them to delete your account, rather than being able to do it yourself from settings page.

This company will not take you off…

This company will not take you off their list. They also continued to sent apartments that were out side of my search credentials and are spamming with listing that are out of my area and out of my budget by over $500.00 my experience was not present using Apartment List.

I'm looking to rent an apartment in…

I'm looking to rent an apartment in another town so I searched for available apartments. This company wouldn't show me apartments before I spent 15-30 minutes filling out a profile. Sorry, I just wanted to see a price list, not pass out my info for another company to use to spam me. I notice from their rating not many people love what they do.

Not useful at all, especially if you have a budget.

The site is easy to navigate and lays out information well, but that's all I can say that's positive. The site has you enter all your criteria for what you're looking for, how many beds, baths, the range you'd be willing to pay, amenities, pet friendly, etc. Except it doesn't matter what you put in, because it will just recommend properties that are vaguely what you're looking for based on location alone. It will constantly recommend properties that fall outside most of your criteria, it especially likes to push properties vastly outside your budget, sometimes over $1000 more than your set max budget. What's the point of setting a budget if you won't show me the properties in my budget? If you don't host properties on your site within my budget, why let me set a custom budget outside what your site offers? I know the market for rentable housing is unforgiving right now but sites like these do not help at all. They send me several emails a week telling me "we found you the perfect match!" and it's the same 10 properties they keep showing me every week that I've already rejected. I've been registered and receiving emails for 8 months and have never found a property I could inquire about through this site. In hindsight, I'm thinking it was made only with 60+ retirees in mind, not really helpful for anybody else.

Search results don't match requested criterea

I created a profile on ApartmentList which includes entering the criteria as to what I need in a rental, and I specifically requested listings with a 3 month term, and that we have dogs. In the first search I did, I picked a promising listing, and scheduled a tour. I get to the complex, sit down with the saleswoman who ultimately tells me that I probably won't be able to bring one of my dogs there because it's too big (it's mid to larger size, around 60 lbs), unless I generate a letter saying it's a support dog. Also we have 3 dogs total and there's nothing in the search results from ApartmentList that puts a limit on the number of dogs. But worse than that is the saleswoman told me that the leases are a minimum length of 6 months. So why did this complex come up in my search results and result in a wasted tour, since I specifically wrote 3 month lease terms required in my profile and the search results are based on that (supposedly). Although the site is fairly well laid out, easy to navigate and provides somewhat relevant search results, the blatant errors make the whole operation questionable. This website has one job- match a potential renter with an appropriate apartment based on their stated preferences and requirements. That didn't happen.

Maybe Scammers on there.

In response to my application for an apartment in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, for a one-bedroom unit priced at $1,800, the property manager requested personal information, including my name and credit score, to assess my ability to pay the rent. I provided the requested details and was informed that I qualified for the apartment. An open house is scheduled for Friday, but I am permitted to view the apartment on Thursday. A deposit fee of $1,800 is required for the viewing, and a refund will be issued if the apartment is not up to code upon inspection. The property manager emphasized that attending the open house does not guarantee my acceptance of the apartment due to its high demand. This revelation prompted me to question how I could be the first to view the apartment before other applicants.Initially, I intended to transfer the deposit fee via Zelle, as the property manager provided a specific account number. However, I found this request suspicious, as previous Zelle transfers from my account were processed to a limited liability company. The scam account number belonged to a personal account.Fortunately, Zelle has a transaction limit for new users. Consequently, I emailed renter to inquire about the transaction limit and did not receive a response within two days.Refraining from sending the deposit fee, I decided I wanted to attend the open house to assess the apartment firsthand to see if they are real or not. Additionally, I considered visiting the building to find out more information because there’s someone using their address to scam people and that could reflect bad on them… Apartment list.. I can’t trust u because u clearly don’t verify ur renter properly. And u may get sue if someone scams the wrong person..

Useless site

Useless siteFinding an apartment is like finding a job. All these sites have mass collected options that are usually duds or not as described. At least on those other sites when I put in a max rent they don't recommend to me places that are WAY outside my affordability range. This company is completely useless and a waste of time. You'd have better luck on Craigslist.

I feel it’s a scam

I have tried to set up an appointment to view the property but all I get is an email asking for all my information and a payment to secure the property as there are already 28 people interested. This has got scam written all over it. It’s a real shame because I loved the place

properties respond -app does this job?

You know the concept of what they’re trying to accomplish is fine but the problem is the properties never respond. You email me or text and they say they will respond within 24 hours. They’ll text you back with regurgitated marketing material copied from their website.! I’ve got several properties that don’t even respond let alone I’m getting so frustrated. There’s one property right now that I’ve been trying for four weeks to get a response from. they seem to just regurgitated marketing material copied from their own website that you’ve already looked at a basic copy of the website sent to me over email but no answers from the individual or stop by. It’s like no I want to know what I asked, which is I want total move-in cost so I can walk down look at it, and rent it if I do not want more marketing material regurgitated from their own websites back at me this is ridiculous so this app doesn’t accomplish what it tries to do because the properties don’t respond to the leases.!!
