I'm not surprised to see the negative reviews flooding this company , The greatest mistake i ever made was depositing $89k from the money i made from Pay Mine , Unfortunately E trade blocked my account without any tangible explanation and the customer support has been highly professional . I have no choice than to go back to Pay Mine . The right information is always vital in decision making . Lesson's learnt

I opened a 24-month CD online with E*Trade, and initially the process was straightforward. However, about a month later, they called and sent a message saying they needed additional information. I spent 20–25 minutes answering what felt like ridiculous questions — for example, about my three ex-husbands: their names, dates of birth, when we were married, and when we divorced.It was extremely confusing and uncomfortable. If I had the option to close this $5,000 account immediately, I would do so without hesitation. This experience was unnecessary and unacceptable. I have never had such a negative experience opening a bank account. Never again.

I’ve been with E*TRADE for years, but my recent experience with my IRA account has been a complete nightmare and has destroyed any trust I had left.Out of nowhere, my IRA account was locked with zero explanation. No warning email, no phone call, no obvious reason listed in my account dashboard just some nonsense messages saying it was restricted and I couldn’t access or move my funds. This is retirement money I’ve been saving for decades, and suddenly I’m completely cut off from it.I called support multiple times, spent hours on hold, and every representative I spoke to was dismissive and unhelpful. They kept repeating the same scripted lines (“it’s under review,” “security reasons,” “we can’t discuss details”) and showed zero empathy or urgency. My frustration, stress, and genuine concern about my locked retirement savings clearly meant nothing to them. It felt like they couldn’t care less about how this was affecting me emotionally or financially.After weeks of back-and-forth and getting nowhere, I finally got escalated to a specialist. Only then did things start moving. The specialist actually took the time to explain what was going on (some obscure compliance flag that was never communicated properly), guided me step-by-step through the required verification and paperwork, and helped resolve the issue. Once that was done, I was finally able to regain access and immediately moved every dollar out of the IRA to another custodian.I’m grateful the specialist eventually helped, but the fact that it took weeks of fighting, emotional distress, and poor customer service just to get basic access to my own money is unacceptable. E*TRADE’s initial handling of this was cold, incompetent, and borderline negligent.Never again. If you value your peace of mind and easy access to your retirement funds, look elsewhere. If you're having similar issue, ask, I can tell you who helped me.

was an etrade customer for over 15 years, had almost $200,000 dollars with them and traded thousands of trades between 2011 to 2026 , had withdrawn most of the money in 2019 and put a down payment on 3 homes that i purchased in florida. all of a sudden i was about to start trading again and deposit $50,000 into this account and learned they closed it last week for reasons they wont tell me. i cannot get any reason or explanation what this was from, no phone call, no letter, nothing . terrible digusting nasty people , and company. when i had money in there they would jump for me, now im nothing to them. stay clear of this company, it has to be one of the worst things ive experienced from a company/bank in my life. i will take my business elewhere,

Deposited a check into investment account the. Open and transferred a check I deposited they blocked my account and stated 24-48 hours for document review. Then 3 days later they said another 4 business days. Customer service useless unable to transfer my funds

Sent a wire from my cash investment account on Jan 5th, 2026 and the money never arrived at the far end banks and status on E*Trade shows no federal tracking reference.E*Trade is very difficult to get any resolution. Spoken with themon numerous days to attempt to resolve, but nothing to date. Several thousand dollars now in limbo. Overall, I have been very happy Frontier Invest Corp platform services and my accounts with them Both my wife and I have been on the same referral chain and it has been an awesome journey all through. I admire their level of professionalism
I’ve been with ETRADE for a while and never had an issue until I tried to deposit a rollover 401(k) check to them.. and they don’t even care about getting my money and I told them if you’re going to Auto cancel my check deposit so I’m not going to deposit any more checks with you and I’m going to begin looking for another exchange. Had terrible experiences with Educational Savings Account for my son. It took me two years to get it transferred out properly. Then there is some residual value remaining after closing, and their customer services gave me contradicting information about how to claim the residual value on each phone call. Stay away!!!
Horrible - signed up due to promo. They keep locking you for no reason. When asked Customer care just don't care. As the representative suggested I am transfering out even if losing that promo.
AWFUL!!!!! they make it impossible for beneficiaries to receive benefits. My mother passed away 3 years ago and there has been more red tape with E*TRADE than selling her properties. Communication and customer service are a joke. STAY FAR AWAY!!! There are much better options.
I was a long time customer of 20 years with E*TRADE. Six months ago I had a fraudulent attack on some of my financial accounts betrayed being one. E*TRADE locked my account and told me I had to set up more security which I did, professionally clean my machine which I did twice, contact Experian which I did and set up a two-step verification for logging in. After doing all this with the additional cost of cleaning my machine just recently they locked the account and said nothing. Never got a call or notification that it was locked or I had a problem going on. The day I decided to make a trade is when I found out that my account was locked so I called. They were unable to give me any information at all, wouldn’t let me know if my money was safe, wouldn’t let me know what caused a problem and it took three weeks to resolved. They informed me that I had to wait for a piece of paper in the mail that basically said all the things I did above and no other information was given. The customer service upfront was not bad but they did not have any information in what they called the back room and would not transfer me to speak to anyone. Wouldn’t you use these guys again unfortunately.
