I paid for 2 guys to show up to …

I paid for 2 guys to show up to install a large tv: A primary installer and a helper. Only the helper showed up. Upon contacting Angi they had no clue as to why the primary didn't show, said they are independent contractors, but if I wished to reschedule, they wouldn't charge me to reschedule - what? really? how magnanimous - if I could give them minus 10 stars that would still be too much

Quick start

Quick start, finished on time. Caulked master bath, fixed kitchen sink, remodeled hall bath. Will hire again.

Absolutely don’t use them

Absolutely don’t use them. The leads are poor quality and they charged my account after cancelling and then after months not having used them I got a call from a collections agency saying that I owe. They are a scam.

Angi for Pros is absolute trash

Angi for Pros is absolute trash. They lie to sell you their contract, give mostly garbage leads, and are impossible to contact and will not give you a credit for the garbage leads. Save your money and find other ways to get leads. They have so many terrible reviews because they are a terrible company with a garbage service.

It was a two person job to install ping pong table. I gave exact description of table. They only sent 1 pro, and initially wouldn't allow it to send 2 pros (this is a 220 pound ping pong table). Which is a liability and a safety issue. Then, once they finally did allow two, they charged extra and wouldn't allow me to cancel and get a full refund.

Just use AI, Dying business

I'll keep this simple, small dent in gutter, Palm tree hitting it, needed it looked at, numerous phone calls, "we are recording you", even more text, realized I made a mistake. I ask one company to give an estimate, clear stated small repair, hard sell of 25k new gutters hard sell for leaf guard, crazy. My gutters are 2 years old but boy I guess they are real bad Still laughing, Just use AI. It's free, ask for locals with good reviews, phone numbers, locations provided. No Angie follow ups, phone doesn't blow up and you won't have to clear out all those texts.

Horrible

Horrible. I bought the key to get 20% off and it wasn't worth it. Couldn't get anyone reliable to come out to mow the yard. A couple of them said their mower broke and took my money for an uncompleted job. Trying to find "professionals" is a joke. Overpriced con artists is more like it. Won't use, won' recommend. You would have an easier time trying to flag somebody down off the road to come help you with your project. Now I'm out the extra money for the useless key thing.

Paid Lowe’s to install a toilet

Paid Lowe’s to install a toilet, then Angi got in the loop with them. Two guys showed up, and said they have to replace the shutoff valve under the toilet. $125 plus tax. Total 134.96. The old valve and supply line was less than 5 years old . This is the regular pattern from all of their ‘Professional’ contractors. I will call my regular plumber and never go thru Angi.

Angie will text and threaten you if you don’t pay

I reached out to Angie’s List to create a simple, free business profile for my new tile and flooring company so that homeowners could find me organically. I was told I needed to call to “verify” my account. That is where everything went downhill. The call started off normal. The representative asked good questions about my business, my work, and my target clients. Then without warning, the conversation turned into an extremely aggressive sales pitch for a paid monthly lead subscription.I clearly and politely explained multiple times that I was not interested in paying for advertising at this time and that I only wanted to verify my free profile. Instead of respecting that boundary, the representative doubled down and began using fear based sales tactics and hypothetical scenarios about me not having work or being able to pay my bills. At one point I was being pushed into a $500 per month plan, then a “discounted” $315 per month plan, and I was told that even that was not really worth it unless I spent more. The tone became pushy and increasingly hostile when I did not agree.I eventually ended the call because it was clear I was not going to be allowed to simply verify my account without being pressured into paying.About 10 minutes later, I received completely unprofessional and insulting text messages from the same representative stating that I “may not be in business for long,” that I was “laxed about getting work,” and essentially mocking me for not agreeing to their service. I have screenshots of these messages. That is beyond unacceptable. No legitimate company should ever speak to a small business owner that way.If this is how Angie’s List treats contractors who are just getting started and trying to build an honest business, I want absolutely nothing to do with this platform now or in the future.I will be building my business through quality work, referrals, and relationships with real clients and designers, not through a company that resorts to high pressure tactics and personal insults.Avoid.

DON'T USE ANGI!!!

Angi's is an absolute rip off. Signing up as a company was simply easy because they're just looking to take your money. After you sign up if you're unhappy with how their business operates or if you're up against multiple other companies or if you're leads don't answer or if you business promoting is going no where they make you cancel and in order to do that you have to pay a % of your remaining payments. They literally just take your money and walk away with it. I have never ever experienced this before with any other company of this nature. It is disgusting and unacceptable to be charging what you charge and handle things the way you teach your employees to handle things. They won't waive any fees but will charge you up the you know what for everything else. I will make sure no one uses this site anymore. Absolutely disgusting to call yourself a business...

Harassment instead of selling

I have just created my own business and since then this company has been calling me and wasting my time trying to convince me to be on their website. They claim "there's a lot of people on your area needing your services" but I refused because I want to get clientele the organic way. Although I already asked them to not reach back they keep calling every week, no wonder there's a lawsuit against them for harassing and forcing sales. I feel bad for their employees because I can't imagine the pressure they are under, but it is so annoying. I saw some reviews online and most of them of CLIENTS complaining that they do the same! This is absurd behavior and I have no idea how this company plans on surviving acting this way. Don't be surprised if you break Angie, no company should harass anyone into doing anything! Before you respond to this complain with your pre-programmed generic answer, I want you to know that I did had plans on putting my company on the website eventually but since they kept calling me I gave up. I would never work with a website that doesn't respect my boundaries and if you would like to do anything for me just STOP CALLING!!!

Beware

Beware. I checked Angi for contractors and the next morning I had over 20 spam emails. The spam emails are continuing to come since entering my email with that site. Frustrating.

Friends

Friends, do not work with Angi List. They are extremely unfair and deceptive. Whether you have money or not, you are forced to pay them. Even if they don’t send you any customers for a month, you still have to pay a monthly subscription fee. There was no money in my account, yet they still charged me and even put me in debt with my bank. They took $700 from me. I don’t even understand how they did it. Do not tie yourself to the system they’ve created. Protect yourself. If you sign up, they lock you into a one-year contract. If you try to cancel, they demand a 35% penalty fee — calculated based on the total annual subscription amount. That makes no sense.Out of 40–45 leads they send, you may only get 4–5 actual jobs. I worked for 3–4 months just to pay them and made no real profit. It feels like a system where you end up working for them instead of for yourself.Be careful and read the contract very carefully before signing anything.

BEWARE OF AREA DISPOSAL TRUCKS AND…

BEWARE OF AREA DISPOSAL TRUCKS AND THEIR DRIVERS!!! My wife and I were loyal Area Disposal customers for roughly 20 years until their drivers caused extreme damage in the gravel roads in Cave Creek leading to our home, due to excessive speeds. Their drivers also caused an unsafe environment for cyclists, horseback riders, dogs and wildlife. Area Disposal Business Owner, Donna S. stated their trucks are equipped with GPS that track speeds and location for safety purposes and their data shows the trucks were operating within the designated speed limits. Yet, she never stated the actual speed they tracked and it is well known that poor satellite geometry, atmospheric conditions and the quality of the GPS receiver proves GPS is not always accurate. In addition, she never stated GPS data can be manipulated through a technique known as GPS spoofing, where false GPS signals are transmitted. My wife and I, and our neighbors witnessed the trucks' speeds first hand and most of us have CCTV cameras that capture and record the trucks' activity, but Donna S. insisted CCTV footage does not measure vehicle speed while making a commitment to "remind the drivers to use added caution and reduce speed on gravel roads whenever possible." We responded, "We look forward to Donna S. continuing her commitment to remind the drivers to use added caution and reduce speed on gravel roads." However, the next day, Donna S. informed us, "As we are unable to meet your expectations, we will be discontinuing service to your location."AS A RESULT, WE HAVE A NEW SERVICE THAT HONORS THE ACTUAL SPEED LIMITS THAT ARE POSTED AND ANYONE WHO USES AREA DISPOSAL SHOULD BE AWARE THAT OUR BILL WITH THE NEW SERVICE IS 35% LESS THAN AREA DISPOSAL!!!

terrible experience, not worth it

terrible experience. The leads are very poor quality. Most of them are unreacheable. I leave messages, emails and call them and leave voicemails. Most do not ever get back to me at all. I think Angi gives their info to a bunch of contractors so the leads are very poor quality.

I hired Angie.com’s service for a closet installation

I hired Angie.com’s service for a flat-fee $475 closet installation, with a promised three-hour completion. After three hours, only the rail was done, and the job dragged on five more hours and it wasn’t even done yet! It’s still not done. When I called, I was coldly told I’d have to pay extra, despite zero upfront disclosure of hourly fees. Worse, the customer service showed no empathy for my situation. The agent seemed indifferent to the stress, and escalation meant waiting 24 hours for a manager. This was a complete failure of transparency, customer care, and basic respect for the customer’s time. I strongly warn others to avoid Angie’s services!
